I found this site through a Google search for information on wood chippers. After extensive research of this site I purchased a Vermeer 1250 yesterday. It is a 1991 model with 1050 hours on it. It was owner by an optic fiber installer who used it rarely on jobs. It has surface rust but expected for a machine of this age. I appreciate the information I learned from this site.

welcome to the site! congrats on the purchase......what'd you pay n how'd you find it? I've been following the site for quite some time n am wanting a chipper too. I'm just a "lurker" cause I say little, but read plenty & enjoy learning. Be safe with your new tool!!!!

I found the chipper on MachineryTrader.com under forestry equipment. The chipper came with a new set of blades installed and a new set in the box. They were asking $6,800 and we agreed on $6,000. Good people to deal with. This was the only chipper they had on the lot. Normally trade on trucks and trailers.

I have a question about my 1250. It has new blades but the anvil appears way out of adjustment. I have searched the net but can't find any information on the setting. Does anyone on the site know what this setting should be? Thanks!

One of the knives is closer than the othes, use that one to adjust by

Vermeer sent me a free owners manual and it instructs to set the gap .080 to .120
