Haven't been posting or reading as much here now that the weather is nicer and I am working 12 hour days during the week. And have been cutting wood on the weekends. Thought I needed to give a thumbs up for the 7900. My chainsaw addiction has caused me to own at one time or another all of the great saws from all of the makers. The saw that remains in my stable and continues to sing praises from my friends who cut wood with me is that goofy oval shaped 7900! Very impressed and continue to be impressed with how it cuts.

This weekends project was a 48" DBH Red Oak that had an approx 18" diamater by 96" length area of the tree completely devoured by carpenter ants. I have never seen so many ants in my life! Sorry, no pictures...

Power to weight ratio I think the 7900 would be hard to beat. While at the southern Ohio gtg we weighed saws as they would be used on a digital scale, full of gas, full of bar oil and 16" bars and chains. Wished we would have weighed one of the 460's now, but I know where one is local to check someday.

How about Ben Walker? :yoyo: :yoyo: :ices_rofl:

I don't know about your, but he didn't like his own......

Sawtroll Ben didn't like the oiler problem he had, I think he liked the saw overall but not the parts supply in his area. Hell come to think of it Ben doesn't care much for one of the most popular saws of all time, the one and only 026/260 Stihl. (Ben is gonna kill me,lol)

That be a true statement, power to weight the 7900 is one tuff cookie. Sorta sits in a class by itself.

My dad used mine

After he finally understaood what the blue button did.. He made a few cuts in a maple. and set it down and said to me "that is a cutting fool" I just smiled at him..

Your post inspired me to weigh in :monkey: , with my saws. These were weighed on an old fashion "homeowner" scale. It might be off some, but it did seem consistant. All were filled with oil/gas. Just for a fun comparison.

Stihl MS 260............ 14.5 lbs.-----20" .325 20nk bar/chain
Stihl MS 361............ 17.5 lbs.-----20" .375 bar/chain
Dolmar 5100............ 15.25 lbs.----18" .325 bar/chain
Dolmar 7900 ........... 19.0 lbs------20" .375 bar/chain
