Benny is the tips man for Stihl. When I said I'm fixing small Stihl's I unfortunately meant the small homeowner versions :( Nothing fancy but do currently have a couple of 029 Supers in the shed. One needs new crank seals and the other one a new oil pump plus other goodies. Both have been abused by knuckledraggers.
Thanks Matt

Welcome back buddy...

We've been busy drilling holes in saws to unleash the beasts and there's been some pretty cool paint jobs put up.....

I'm starting a porting business, hack porting, and will be posting a pro hack tuning video tomorrow....if I can get my camera to see through the smoke coming off the accidentally left on chain brake.

It's all happening
Should I send you one of my hoof rasps?

You'll want to have T Shirts and stickers mate or honestly your new line of ported saws won't be worth a damn.
Stubby holders too...

I'm thinking of using big stickers with my symbol/brand like the flammable placards on trucks and putting them on the mufflers, right next to the newly drilled muffler port that points at the fuel cap.

You idiot John. I thought you were sworn to secrecy regarding the magic of saw porting? You've just sent 50 builders out of business revealing trade secrets like that. Foolish. Foolish man.

Count me in for a stubby holder. Make that two.
As far as forward facing exhaust ports on a work saw I think some of the US builders need to run saws in the middle of our summer in big hardwoods logs in sustained cuts. Keep a fire extinguisher handy :) I've caught bark alight dozens of times even with stock exhausts.

Need to sharpen your chain I think, saw is sitting in one spot for to long... easy way to check, is the chain making nice big wood chips or fine sawdust?

Your post got me thinking about the dust or chips thing and I never did get that one and still don't! haha... A chainsaw is a cutting tool is it sharp? dull /rocked out? need a rub? ****** if I know better look at the chips to find out? haha..
Makes me wonder how a butcher knows if his knives are sharp? maybe you ask for a T-bone and he hands you a bag of mince? along with a ****** if I know whats going on look haha, or your soon to be wife goes to pick up her wedding dress and the Seamstress hands her a bag of rags and says sorry about that I didn't know my scissors were blunt? :crazy2: ....

'Mericans are always commenting on our chains and that they need sharpening because our saws sometimes make dust instead of big wood chips. They don't realise how hard the wood really is ...friggin hard in some cases and red dust everywhere.

Decided to start tuning up a recently hotted up world championship racing saw today (my 461)......found out my clamp meter measures frequency just yesterday so decided to test that out to determine the rpm's of the saw......it's that sensitive that it will give you the frequency of your house ac from anywhere in the house and it's accurate to 0.1%......just what this hack saw builder needs.....total accuracy and the world's best sensitivity. ...

So I set this up outside on the driveway so I don't get unwanted interference, check the missus is not asleep in bed like she was yesterday when I started this test, sit the clamp meter up about a foot from the saw start it up and it's reading up and down and all over the place...saw is screaming in half choke position and starts blowing smoke, I'm thinking, gee, she must be running rich, wasnt running rich like this yesterday......smokes getting worse, I flick the control lever back to normal operation (idle) and see the chain not moving........

I then disengage the chain brake.....rich condition fixed and smell of burning brake pads slowly blows away.....

Continued the test with the clamp meter after that little stuff up and it works brilliantly...up to 300,000 RPM on a Stihl chainsaw
