So as asked befor
does anyone on here know where in OZ know where I can get a screw as im wanting to make a screw type splitter I heard there was a mob in QLD selling them

Yeah like Chippy,s idea but we will have the camper trailer and the cruiser and was looking at spending maybe a week or so over there

I live on the NW coast and the camper stays in the shed this time of year, that said the coldest we have ever been was in Canberra about two years ago in September. Snow about down here at the moment and the thermometer is reading 5.7 degrees and falling....................
Not worth spending less than a fortnight here when you realise it will cost around $1500 to come across on the big red rowing boat.

Finally completed the tune on the 461 with the Tacho that arrived this morning, kindly supplied by Vince....

The porting on the 461 hasn't made a huge difference but it is cutting better under load deep in the log...not bogging down where it used to....top end has opened up and it feels a bit stronger.

The 029S is a different saw.....big improvements with the baffle bypass and much stronger all round. Better suited to the 3/8th setup now.

Thanks again Vince

At least you worked out how to release the chain brake. Zero point ******* around with ports if you have no idea on what port timing you should be trying to acheieve to make power. And most power gains are made in building up a decent carb not drilling holes in mufflers to make more noise. Maybe advance the timing a few degrees

F,,,k didnt realise it was that dear to get there, thats alot of coin for a bloody row boat

I use just a cheap Chinese one at home. Works well but chews they batteries.
Got a nice 300mm Mititoyo one for work.

The Japanese ones are my preference too.

They all work and pretty much are all accurate to 0.02-0.03mm....but the expensive ones you won't ever find any slop in the movement and have hardened measuring edges.

I've priced the 4WD/Camping trailer to Tas. a couple of times with 2 x persons, its was that dear it wasn't worth taking the trailer, 4WD yes but not the trailer as well. $3,000 return rings a bell but look it up to be sure.

Probably 4WD and tent it or o/night vans/cabins. Rode the Beema round Tassie a few years back, great people and want to get back again.

One Tassie bloke (I read) has a 4wd with tray and a tray mounted camper specifically to cut down the costs when coming over holidaying.

fathers day soon i just busted my super cheap digital caliper glass :( so what the next best make im liken this as can get the daughter bunnings discount http://www.bunnings.com.au/kincrome-150mm-digital-vernier-calipers_p5660320

or are these hergestellt deutschland that bit better

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BGS-Germ...IC-0-150-mm-/120723644264?hash=item1c1bb09f68

The BGS looks to be good quality but I can't say for certain that it's German made. I have bought BGS stuff in the past and I have not actually seen "Made in Germany" anywhere but they have all the ticks for European approval so can't be to bad.

Just a word of warning on those looking to buy a Mitutoyo, there are a lot of chinese copies online some selling for $200+ and they look very much the real deal. You only know its fake once you compare it to a real Mitutoyo - accuracy, battery life, etc.

Only worked out the chain brake cause it was blowing so much smoke....I've put a large caution sign on it now so that won't happen again.

Today I filled the bar oil tank with 2t again.....must have needed a clean out I must have been thinking.

Widening out the ports works fine. It doesn't change the timing and I did ask here if anyone has timing specs for my saws and got no response...I didn't want to mess with the ignition.

I haven't touched the carbies yet but I can tell after the first tune that's where the 461 will improve. ....it's not holding its tune great atm.

If I go to the mainland I take the wife's magna wagon and leave the hilux here. I have a shorty drawbar to fit to the camper just to get me on the boat. It keeps the entire rig under 7 meters long which saves me about $1200 return. Once I get off the boat I fit the long drawbar and hook up the brakes and am away. Go too long and $3000 is easily achieved with a couple of kids and the missus.

I am heading to Adelaide next Easter to compete in the brass band championships and will take the camper, both kids and the missus but after that will build a camper for the cback of the flat tray as the kids are just about grown up.

Love my camping.

Apols Peter........

Much cheaper than what I remember, varies $1200 - 1700 roughly speaking - if you can sort out day/night sailings/accommodation etc., must have reduced pricing, its been a few years.
Thats good enough to consider taking the camper if going for a fortnight........hmmmm ? Its been off our plans for years due to cost, now worthy of more thought :)
Tassie is a lot like South Gippsland and the East Coast of Vic. and is Mekka for riding a motor bike with hardly any straight flat roads, loved it !

Nice scales, Is that a ebay scale?
I have a small 200g .00 for the coffee baskets. Picked up a Silvia w'pid from a guy who had the hario drip scales and his weights were 200g read 200.34 or something like that so I'm pretty chuffed for $8. And I've seen one retail for $50+
