Yes Luke, the farce is strong in that one.

I've got a Hitachi set up....18v 5ampH slide kit.......pretty much all cordless are made in China now and they're pretty cheap crap Inc the Milwaukee .....the Hitachi are Japanese made and I'm on my second set in 10 years. ...and its the batteries that go...the tools just keep going and I use them almost daily.

You can repack the batteries easily but you should use a TIG welder and not solder...

If you want quality, try Metabo, I use their 18 volt gear at work and it's awesome. All made in Germany too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Can't justify the price of good cordless tools, given I won't be using them to directly make $. Might come down to the choice between good second hand and new lottery (with warranty) brands. In a former life, much of my building gear was Hilti but a quick check suggests their cordless stuff is made in China now. Even the "L" line of Metabo's is too, not the "LT/X" line though.

Repacking batteries isn't so expensive it would put me off good quality used cordless tools.

Get the Ryobi stuff from Bunnings if your only an occasional user but try and get the Lithium Ion battery because they will outlast the other stuff 10 fold if it spends most of its life on the shelf.....just don't store them empty.

Well I'm glad I clicked on the link because that Remington and the yellow solo chainsaw in the back ground of some of the pictures use to belong to my dad and grandad until last Saturday when we had our clearing sale. I asked my dad about the Remington and he said that he remembers that it ran really rough and didn't start well so it didn't get used that much. The solo was still being used until about thirteen years ago when my dad bought a new husky 372xp which we have since upgraded to a 576xp auto tune. The Remington has had a loot of layers of dust cleaned off it since last Saturday I can tell you [emoji23][emoji23] I hope someone gets it and puts it on their wall in their man cave

Morning dribblers, finally my work schedule is back on track, my brother has returned to work.
Gotta make the most of my newly acquired shed time!
1st up, finish cleaning my race saws
2nd, change out a Briggs mower engine
3rd tackle 1 of the numerous bikes & quads waiting 4 me.
Finally in about 4 months time, I'll get round to building some new saws for myself........off to the shed!

Not very, it's only a year old and hasn't had heavy use. I can only get a slight dribble from the oil hole, usually it pours out.
