I have a compound (lefty) which I haven't done much with. I must get my act together and hit some foxes that enter my front yard.

Sit on the verandah with some bourbons a spotlight and bait and whop! (No offense to the Italians!).

Where bouts in the south east do you hunt?
Mainly west of Moruya, got about 3000ac of neighbouring farm land to roam, including 300ac of the family farm ...which is all surrounded by State forest and NP.
but i get around down into the vic border area, eden to bombala & north to cooma monaro/southern highlands/shoalhaven

yeah its nice country, lots of space not many people.... lived all over the place up there, used to live in bombala when i was felling the pines for a few years ...gets cold in winter! we used to have to get the pick axe and smash out some ice out of the water tanks for a cuppa.lol ...everything freezes solid especially around cathcart

If the injuns and riginals had things like that we'd have had our arses kicked. Well by the injuns anyway...
no dramas ...riginals would trade for flaggon or goon mate, she be right. injun just laugh & say silly white man

Can't see why, it's not a crossbow and perfectly legal here.

Same reason why you can buy machetes and swords here but can't import them. I'm not actually sure on the legalities but anything deemed as a "weapon" gets put under the microscope. Wankers...

Bows are generally fine mate, it comes under Archery which is a sport! lots of people getting them imported from the states saving a buck with no troubles with customs ...I always deal locally myself with Benson Archery Sydney

Good to hear! I suppose you can't import any broadheads with it though :(

The term "sport" can change anytime though and I'd bet my lefty that if something hit the media involving a camo compound bow that the laws would be adjusted quick smart. Depends on the mood of the government at the day and which side they got out of bed.

Hey this bow shootin' sounds like fun! I never got into it 'professionally' but I did make some bows back in the day, I even made one with some spotted gum and some red. Was a bit heavy but worked alright.

I need to get one of those compound bows I think.

Oh and Al, you're a lefty too! :msp_thumbup:

I agree. I always loved bows. We used these fibreglass ones at school but you're right, these compound bows look the goods. Unfortunately the only thing I've ever hit apart from a target was a poor Magpie I nailed on the school oval when I was about 14. I got my arse kicked majorly for that one. I told the teacher I didn't think I'd hit it (I actually didn't!) and she said "well why the hell did you shoot an arrow at it then?". Good point I suppose. Now days I'd have made "A Current Affair".
I'm too impatient to use one for hunting though.

At school, on the school oval, during school hours may have added a tad to it Matt!
