QUOTE=MCW;4112303]At least the dodgier Stihl dealers won't be able to tell customers to bring their saws in for a monthly "retune" :D
Or actually they probably will.

"Excuse me sir while I just hook up my Stihl sanctioned laptop and check for any nasty tuning issues that may potentially harm penguins in Antarctica".

"All fine sir. That'll be $200 thanks..."
[/QUOTE]

$200.00 plus the usual $20.00 GST makeing for a total of $220.00 thank you.

Had a play with this toy, and apart from what it is, it does go ok. It starts easy so far and did respond to some tuneing. Chain suplied was not the best but the saw seemed ok.
(and thanks Matt for your on the spot expert diagnosis on this saw)

Did my expert diagnosis remotely involve Germany in any way, shape, or form?
Hopefully not :D
And here we have it folks, knock off Stihl chain and bar plus knock off saw. The bar and chain are very hard to pick.

You called it for what it is Matt and of coarse was correct.
My neighbours wife bought this just before christmas (as a present) thinking it was a stihl as the advert suggested and the price made her think this is a absolute bargon, she did price some localy.
Same old same old, another buyer caught.

I don't think its such a bad thing, it does however sh#t me off how they can be sold to honest, unsuspecting and perhaps nieve buyers thinking they have bought a genuine product.

I don't actually care about looks either but if they're still a poorly balanced piece of sh*t then all the M-Tronic in the world can't fix that.

Nah my mind isn't made up at all mate - remember I own and love a few Stihls :D Each to their own of course but I have run 660's and 390XP's side by side when falling and trust me the 660's fail big time on balance and handling against the 390's. Never would I say the 660's are useless or unreliable as that's simply not the case. If I was dropping saws into logs all day then in all honesty I'd probably pick a 660 apart from the fuel eceonomy.
I just look back at how nice the 044's and MS440's felt and then the 441's came along and they beefed up like porky pig. I just hope the 661 hasn't gone down the same path.

If you like feel maybe go back to an old Mac or something with no AV :) Springs are the way to go mate, especially when you run saws a lot.

A few days ago when I walked across the lawn the dry grass was crunchy under my feet.

Last nite the rain gauge filled to overflowing, it holds 240mm I have now found out, that is in the last 24hrs and that is added to 33mm we got the previous 48hrs. Still coming down like a cow pissing on a flat rock. This oughta fill a few dams up

who else is getting this drop of rain?

Just checked what rain we have had for the year , so far 616.5 ml Pathetic We normally get around 1600 ml to 1900 mls for the wet
All our rain is either being sucked over to QLD or WA with the cyclones on both side of the country.
Everyone up here is either complaining how hot it is or the fact that with no decent rains, the fisho's are complaining how it dont help barra fishing
Our rain chart since 2000 is as follows
2000 / 01 1864 mls
2001 / 02 1441
2002 / 03 1365
2003 / 04 1790.5
2004 / 05 919
2005 / 06 2254
2006 / 07 1615
2007 / 08 1922.5
2008 / 09 1878.5
2009 / 10 1747
2010 / 11 3162
2011 / 12 1789
There are som big variances over the years. Whether we get a cyclone or end up with a late wet we will have to see.
As they say with rain, either a drought or it floods

"we'll all be ruined" said henryhand, "before this rain is through". Wholly crap batman, had not as much as Will yet, but I do believe its heading our way. Had 70mm overnight + about 30mm in the 48hrs preceeding.

I remember as a young fella growing up on the NSW coast, flood times were based on the tropical cyclones moving down the coast from townsville way. Would rain elaphants and rhino's for weeks (more then cats & dogs). Seems like this is like old times. Weather guys reckon will be gone by Tuesday. Can't see it. Never know, they may be right for once.
