most Embarrassing Saw in My Shed:

Had just today a friend turn up asking if I could have a look at his chainsaw as it wouldn't run without the choke being fully on, then would stall every time you touched the trigger. Well, after some time playing and saying some cool words, I told him it probably had some carby issue and I would need to pull it apart otherwise the next best thing he could do would be go back to Bunnings and buy another one. It would be probably cheaper. The lovely Chainsaw in question::

Hey I have one of those! I mean I used one of them once... its just a different colour.

It took a bit of tuning to get it to run right, but its seems to run fine now (after all the burning plastic smells went away...)

I knew I had one of those little turds buried in my shed somewhere, my father bought it a few years ago, he gave it to me to look at because it wouldn't start.
I discovered the fuel tank was full of bar oil :dizzy: , I kept it and bought him a efco 152.. he couldn't believe how much more power it had :hmm3grin2orange:

Gents, i've been posting in the main forum looking for info on porting a 056 magnum, anyone know someone that can do the job here in oz?

Not sure who can help, most blokes just give it a go. Cut the intake & exhaust ports a bit and see how it goes. Take them a little wider, don't worry about raising and lowering just at this stage. That's my advice. I played with my 372 this way. Seems to be going really well at local club level. yet to test against nations bests.

If i touch it with a grinding implement i'd only stuff it up! i have a few 056 mag's and thought it would be interesting to see what can be extracted from one as a fire wood saw and still remain reliable.

Little Turds.
That's a little hard on the saw Wayne, the weekend specialist, once a year fire wood cutter would be cross with you if that was his favourite saw.
Could almost imagine some bloke skiteing to his missus about his full day of hard earned wood cutting with his ozzie.
It would start with him telling how he sharpened the brute with a stihl file useing long furm strokes on the superior skip tooth 3/8 low profile chain with safety bumpers. Fueling up ,then helmet, chaps and gloves for safety, saw started in just 3 pulls and onto seriouse cutting,,,,, finishing a huge day filling a monster 6x4 trailer load.
Emfasising the fact a 6x4 is very big and only a tough bastard could do it in 1 day.

I actually grind chains for a neibour who has one, those chains come over in perfectly stuffed condition.

Now you know why it took me so long to fill my trailer...

There noisy little turds too... the dB level is 110 :msp_scared:. my husky 271XP dB is 86.
Although my little turd is really quiet.... It wont start, I might paint it brown :msp_biggrin:

Did you use the correct file or did you use one of matties Cutty Cutty long time race tm chains. Oh silly me, the Ozito's rated HP and chain speed would not agree with those chains.....:msp_sneaky:

sorry its sunday.

I tried one of Matts chains once and it cut pretty good but I could never get the same acute angles after I sharpened it - and then it hardly cut at all (I'm thinking that may be part of Matts business strategy...) Oh hi Matt if you are reading this, hope you are having a great day and all :D

I find I get the best results with my $39 chain grinder... those soft pink grinding stones put a real nice edge on the cutters. Plus I get my 12" chains for $5 each from my buddy Hung Lo in Shanghai. Pretty cheap cutting over all.
