Now trying to imagine a 4x2 GW tray back with 400hp.
Yeah I've seen him before. He's a wally without a doubt. Not sure but from memory he's running LP on a standard 3/8" nose which chews the chain out in no time flat.
If I could find a dress small enough, I'd strap it on a roll of that chain and take it out to dinner, it's that sexy. But then the sheep would probably get jealous.
But seriously, I freak'n love that chain.
Sorry, was meaning lp in general. To be honest, I'm not finding much difference between ps and ps3. Maybe I will with a longer bar if I can get one sorted or in different wood. But then, I didn't find much effective difference between picco and Matt's cutty cutty longtime 3/8lp chain either. Well, the main difference was price. Then you will love PS chain even more. Its the non-safety version. PS3 is safety, which may be better for the first date?
As for LP on racing saws? Not sure I would use it for that. But on medium saws like the 024/241, 025/250, 026/260/261, I think it is great stuff, and way better than .325. Stihl and subsequently Logosol stopped selling large mount LP/Picco bars in the US for liability reasons. Stihl LM Picco bars were only available here for a short time on the 024 saws. But then people started putting those bars on 044s and 046s, and they were worried about liability (case in point, look at the Blitz gas can company in the US that was sued into extinction recently). The large saw chainsaw mill guys like LP a lot, and run them on larger saws because they cut less kerf and the stationary saws do not overheat as much.
Thanks Neil. Mainly pine, but there is some very dense hardwood, not gum, that I can cut easy with LP now without clogging. But in saying that, there will be gum- saligna and fastigata.Hello,,,,
I am not going into what bar is best or who makes the best bars.
1st question I have for you is whats your intended use and timber type for which you intend to run your 7900, eg is it green pine, dry pine, native hard wood ect.
I cannot answer a useful answer regarding pine (green or dry) as I work in Australian native hardwoods (coastal).

No worries mate, I hate discussing chain here because most of the guys are from 3 different countries, different wood and so on.
I only know what works here.
I bought a new toy last weekend for odd jobs round the place (36cc husky) it has some 3/8 LP on it, its a toy but it goes.
Kiwi bro,,,, here is a good example of bark and what it does to chain and how it saps the power out of the saw. This example is a demo run I made with Gmaxs (Wayne's) Chinese 070 copy after I played with it.
notice how the chain is pulled our and is straining to ride in the groove because of the binding of the thick bark. the timber is Yellow Stringy Bark, a hard wood that cuts nice once past the bark.
That saw has been repowered with a new 090 piston /cylinder and has had other small mods done as well and it goes ok, its running a piece of round filed 3/8 058 guage full chisel chain on a modified Oregon bar.
