Too windy to kayak today so I took the dog and the Barbie Saw up and opened the trail. I was tired of heaving my bike over and when walking had to remember that I wasn't wearing calks so to be careful. It didn't move. I dulled the chain on the ground, but otherwise it cut out no problem. I think leaving it a year let it stabilize a bit more. Here's the thread from last winter.

Here's how it went.

Looks as though the Used Dog likes going to the woods with you. How does he react to the saw noise? My Queensland used to try to bite the saw...but only when it was running. That dog spent a lot of time in the pickup.

All the different angle cuts....were those relieving cuts?

well done, bike on! Dawg will like the trail improvement too, help his joints last longer, not that he/she would care.
Its clear n frosty here,26 in the shade, perfect time for running around the woods, either felling/brushing or blasting bunnies.
Northern Lights n hot brandy's season coming up soon

No, after I cut it, the edges looked sharp, so I rounded them off. Then I got tired of running a dull chain so quit. Too lazy to file it for the edging. I worked from the downhill side because if the rootwad went, it would go on the other side. I don't think it even budged, to my relief. I cordoned off the upper part of the trail with CAUTION flagging, and then hoped nobody heaved any entrails of whatever game is in season, over the edge of the road. That is a favorite place for doing that.

The used dog just stays out of the way, most of the time. He did bound through after the saw was shut off, but before I had things under control. The tree held for him and then I chewed him out so he stayed back. All the rhinestones and stickers stayed on the Barbie Saw.

I paddle my Trek mountain bike on that trail. I try to run the dog till his heart bursts on the trails but his heart seems to be good. I got him slightly tired yesterday after work. I rode this trail and took off on another one too. A tired dog is a good dog. I almost wrecked. I have him on a leash when using the roads and two killer mini wienie dogs charged us and my large beast tried to take off running for home. My wrist is sore this morning.

There's another trail possibility, but I'll need to get official Forest Service permission to open it.
That will take a lot of time, probably more than the actual work.

Slowp...I guess signing your own "official" forest service permission would be an abuse of power :)
