The old growth Red cedar also has a dark or purple/red heart... I dig though all of Home Depots 2x6 decking cedar and pull them out to make window sills etc out of (after drying).

Yep!!!:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

I've even has the wife down there with me at 10pm sorting through NEW units (they load them down from the top shelf). Hey, price is the same crooked, split or perfect.... The local lumber yards all had signs "no sorting", until Home Depot came to town... Makes a mockery of No2&BTR when the No1 and SELSTR are all gone...

You're right, almost purple. Here's an ERC chest my grandpa made, along with a raw plank.

I like the clear "yellows" you see in it. Far more aromatic than WRC too.

That chest is beautiful, nice workmanship. And you won't have to worry about your woolies getting eaten to boot.:biggrinbounce2:

Thanks. I'll pass that onto my grandpa. Since he's retired, he's a man-posessed with woodwork. These chests were his first task. He made like eight of them, and we all (grandkids) got one.

And you're right about the woolies. I've got my blankets in there, safe and sound!
