colors

Don't give up on different colors. Different colors are nice if you dedicate the ropes to different jobs to keep track of them. I know it is just as easy to use different sizes for different jobs but different colors are good too.

I like the Fly, but it does tind to milk a whole lot. Other than that it's ok. I like the weight and the diameter of the rope, but it is a pain when you get to the end your friction hitch tends to bind up. I'd like to find a rope out there that has the same qualities but less milk at the end. BB

I have both ends spliced so if I cut the milk out of it then I lose my second splice. Guess you win some and lose some. Loss of splice fixed rope or fight the milk and have two splices. Tough decision. I'll have to think on this. Thanks,BB

Froggy you cannot have a double ended splice on a rope like the Fly, which requires extensive milking. You can add the splice after you have milked and cut (burned) it. :)

See that's what I figured out later after my old boss (the one who laid me off) had already ordered it that way. So now I stuck with having to cut one splice out of a 150' hank and getting the milk out then taping the end with electrical tape and burning it to keep it from fraying. Which will fix two problems tight crotches and the milking. So now one end will be spliced an the other will not leaving me with this. When I switch ends I'll just have to use a half hitch with a bolin??SP on top when using my split tail. See the two splices were an easy fix when switching ends. To beat all the splices were sewen. To me the were excellent splices. As I said before you have to give some in order to receive. thanks, BB

Oh by the way thanks Rocky J. I've always apreciated the help you give me on this sight. Please keep up the good work. If not for anyone else at least for me. Over the past year I've learned alot from you. Thanks, BB

So the worst case scenerio is you have two 75' ropes.

I always have at least two climbing ropes.

Hey, you can skip the taping part. Just cut it, dip it 1/2 inch into your saw's gas tank, and light that sucker up!

I love the fly and can easily feel the advantages on lengths much shorter than 150'

HOOOAAA!!!!

I've heard hockling lamenst about various ropes for years. After talking about those issues, there is always a rope use or handling procedure that leads to the hockling. There hasn't been any rope that hockled much more than another.

The ropes that we're starting to use are cnostructed differently. What might work for a 16 strand might not work well for a twelve strand. Thinking that one rope can be used and perform the same as another isn't valid. Look at the variety of fishing line available.

I've never had an issue with Fly hockling. I don't think that Mark has either and he got the first rope off the machine and has been climbing on it longer than anyone. Try handling the rope differently. Some climbers have done things as simple as going from bagging the rope to tarping. Another way that rope can get really screwed up is if it's unwound out of the hank or off the spool wrong. If its not done right, you';; have a lot of work ahead of you getting the added in twists worked out.

How long is the rope? If you're not happy with it I might be interested in buying it.

Drop me a note off the forum.

Tom

Sure Tom send you a email. ill chew the cost side id downgrade it instantly to a cheap lowering line.

John Paul Sanborn I belive it was a altogether different board that sold me on the product.
