Awwwwwwwwwww come on Brother Andrew, its obvious he's seeking your advice, you ole stud you,;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Well, I am full of a lot of things, advice can someimes be one of them, sometimes not. But there are a couple of things I WILL NOT be full of if you get my drift!!!:jawdrop:

I've been prepping plow trucks for the last 8 hours and this thread got INTERESTING!

Hmmmm. Seems some people stepped in something warm and brown and then proceeded to put that foot riiiiiiiiight into their mouth. Ewww.

We can go back and forth about "Online Competition" but one thing is for certain. Thousands and tens of thousands of saw dealers here in the US. How can that be called no competition?

As for dealers being crooks. I guess I am one too. I try to help everyone that walks through my door. But I also try to make money in the process. I don't punch a 9-5 clock and collect my paycheck at the end of the week. I have a house, a truck, a lot of medical bills and college loans to pay off. I'm the same as everyone else except I know where my money comes from. Not from corporate underhanded deals or just doing monkey labor all day. My customers absolutely appreciate the service and pay for it each and every time. They are happy and so am I.

Most dealers aren't rich...far from it. At the end of the day I don't give a dayum what anyone says about me. I'm honest and I do honest work for honest pay. Can I squeeze a few dollars here and there by not bending over and giving a customer 15% of a piece of equipment, abolutely. And I sleep like a baby.

Think about this. Furniture retailers are generally making 140% proffit. The money made on clothes, food and other neccessities is amazing if you go by %. 20-40% mark-up on something that you can actually make or save money with is a gift. You aren't making or saving money with your couch, shirt or pants.

I'm done ranting....for now. It's bed time. LET IT SNOW!

Thall, I believe what I said is that 95% of the dealerrs are crook, morons or both. Mostly morons, a few crooks, and a few that are both
The dealers present have no reason to think this applies to them , unless it does.
BTW I am in the process of buying a Stihl 066. I need to get a bar for said saw, so I called the local Stihl dealer which is a rental shop. Ask him for a 24" 3/8 .050 ES bar. First thing the guys does is ask what model its for.......:buttkick:

Well, Ben in the guy's defense you might want it for an 084, 088, 090 which would be a different mount than the 066. Maybe he knows this.

Welcome to the "new school"
I saw this coming when the Auto Parts stores started asking me whether I had AC in my truck when I was buying a headlight

Do away with all those expensive bodies that actually know something...we got our new computer system that has all the answers

This guy wouldnt know what a 084 or a 090 was if his life depended on it. Fact is I had to have him order a bar for the saw, which should be stocked IMO. On top of that The damn thing cost $60. For that price you ought to get a free bowl of soup on top of the bar!

Ben did you ever think maybe the man wanted to know the model to make sure you wasn't putting that bar on a MS180 or a model the bar is too much for. I"ve had many calls from customers about 36inch bars and they have even given me the whole bar number only to find after asking what model that they intended to use that bar on MS310's. See thats why most dealers ask what model. I think only a moron would get upset because the dealer asked what model. Is it such a pain for you to say a 066, I mean whats the big deal Ben. Your making a mountain out of a mole hill.

You are very open about your opinions and thats all fine and well, good for you. However being your so quick to dish it out you need to be able to take it as well. Face it Ben, you made a dumb remark that isn't true and can't be proven unless you want to fly around the world and visit every dealer your calling all these names. Being your so gung ho about every little thing you should be gung ho as well about not making ignorant remarks. Sending me a red bullet in revenge for calling you on it only proves you know and as well as me it was a dumb remark, simple as that.

Back on subject yeah there are many dealers out there that aren't up to snuff, we all know that. There are customers out there that aren't up to snuff either Ben, maybe your one of them, I don't know. You are very sharp about your knowledge of saws and other things as well but your attitude sounds like a dealers nitemare to be flat honest. I read your post on what you expect of your dealer and thats all well and fine but you on the other hand have no loyalty what so ever to him. You think internet sales are great. You think just because a man forks out a his own money to open a dealership in your area is nothing to you. You obviously aren't going to support him if he slips up and asks you what model. You almost make it sound as though you go in dealerships inspecting every little thing. They have to suit you in every regard or they are one of those 95% you speak of. With a attitude like that where I work we'd tell ya the blacktop is waiting on ya, not just the saw shop but the whole place. We have contractors that spend over a million a year in supplies for home building Ben and I've seen them get put in their place real quick when they come in acting all gung ho so and sassy. Your one person out of 300 million Ben and thats why theres no need to kiss your hiny to satisfy ya, remember that and maybe your expectations may lower some and you will get along alot better at dealers.

Finally I gotta tell Ben, you was right about that comment of yours to me in your red bullet, if BS was electric I'd be a powerhouse, ya dayummmm right. That was a good one Ben, really it was, I laffed my butt off. I'll give ya this Ben, together we could power the whole country,LOL, see I'm not hard to get along with.......

FYI List on a 24" OREGON Bar (D009 mount) is around $65.00. What can anyone expect for a 2 foot chunk of highly engineered metal. Lawnmower blades are 15 bucks a piece and they take a heck of a lot less engineering than a bar.

He should have had the bar in stock maybe, but his price was right on the money. I hear there are some chinese knock-off bars available via the INTERNET that should be much cheaper. Won't do ya much good when they come apart and that big ol' nasty chain kisses your wrist. Momma would be opening your pickle jars for the rest of your life.
