There goes Dan's truck. Dan, why are you standing next to me?

Dan and I were walking up to the front of the job site, yesterday, when he said, "Hey, who's driving my truck?" I thought he was kidding around as this was a two-man gig. I looked towards the street and there went Dan's truck with one of my trailers in tow! We ran towards my truck, but my keys, hidden in the bed, were gone! This was a pro job. They must have cased our site, seen that Dan was not locking his truck each time he went to it, and then saw his keys inside. Bad place to store your keys, right? I know, I know, I should not have left my keys in the bed, as it's also a bad place to leave them. Anyway---making a long story short: We called the cops, they came out, less than two hours later an HO called to complain that one of my trucks was blocking his driveway, only a mile from our job site. We got the truck and trailer back with the keys inside, I found my keys on the lawn where they must have been thrown to keep us from pursuing the thieves, Dan is out an HT-101, CMI ascender, rope, bag, saddle. All in all about a $1400 dollar haul for the low-life scum who took it. May they rot in Hell!

Ouch, sorry to hear about your stuff getting stolen.

A buddy had some stuff stolen from his car once and for about three months afterwards he had about four beartraps secretly hidden under a sheet of newspaper. Unfortunately the culprit never did come back.

Hopefullly the mods don't move this to the lost/stolen equipment forum.

Nice! You ain't getting a bear trap off yourself, by yourself. Thats funny. I should put a couple under the deer stand someone tried to steal this year. Or maybe on the seat, under some newspaper.

Although I feel your pain as I have lost some nice stuff to crooks, setting traps is a bad idea! If I step on someones bear trap in the woods, you can believe Ill be waitin on ya to come check it whether I can get it off myself or not. These kind of illegal booby traps seldom get the person you are targeting. Think about it.

Bummer, that has got to be one of the worst feelings. I had almost all my gear stolen when I was in Cali. What made matters worse, is , that I knew who did it, but couldn't prove it. It was stolen from a company truck, out of a double locked storage bin. Keys where used. Owner of company felt he had no obligation to look into it. Thanks Dean and Hector!

It's weird. I keep cruising the streets, before and after gigs, listening for the sounds of chainsaws and looking for climbers in the trees. I keep telling myself that I'll find the sob's who took Dan's stuff. I had my bicycle stolen some thirty-eight years ago. To this day, if I ever see a Raleigh Record on the street, I always try to see if my old dl# is engraved on the seat post. It's tough to get over being ripped off.

I had a 4wheeler stolen a few years ago, when I lived near Albany. It took me almost a year to find it, but I did finally locate it.. The Thiefs name is Richard Kronsberg. he lives at 7 Rifle Range Road in Colonie NY. He did eventually get arrested... but paid off somebody in the D.A's office, and got off with only more probation... Which he was already on..

And now me

After running a small tree (mostly removal) business in the early 90's I went into the construction field. I have only been doing tree pruning and removals as supplemental income since 95. Last june I decided to go back to 80-90% tree work and put the carpentry to the side. I guess it is a good thing( not really ) because this week some dirtbag decided that it was easier to steal my s$&^ than to buy his own. $3500 in saws and nail guns etc. Right out of my own driveway while I was sleeping or doing trees. F:censored: drug addicts.
