For that kinda money get an RG50. Much better grinder. That is a swiss army knife, it will do alot of things, but none of them as well as a specialized tool.

The backfill blades on the Rayco grinders work well for backfilling (go figure eh).

The RG50's run 35k, but if your in the buisness of grinding stumps they are well worth the money.

Looks like if you could make a way to put a grinding wheel on the back w/ a swivel seat (much like a frontloader/backhoe), remote control operation, it would have some potential.

Although now that youve posted here, your idea is no longer yours to capitalize upon. Sorry.

Buy a dedicated stump machine. most of the attachments are dissapointing in performance

One of my friends have one......good attachment IF you already have the stiener. The machine articulates so all you have to do is turn the wheel to sweep. My sc252 outgrinds it but its not too bad.

That thing is a toy. Only 5" above ground and 5" below ground height will just not "cut it". My Levco HD46 has a 11" above ground and 20" below ground range and the 11" above ground height is too short. I don't normally leave stumps that high before grinding, but think of the many times where you are working on a grade. I think the min. range for any grinder should be 15" above and below level grade. I am getting a Terra Power stump attachment for a mini skid....range of 24" above to 14" below. Now obviously with the mini skid you could raise the grinder up to 5 ft., but for safety reasons they do not recommend grinding above 2 ft. I did demo the Toro Dingo stump attachment and it cut as fast as a Rayco JR. The only thing I did not like about it was the grinding wheel is mounted sideways to the machine and it threw chips all over the place. The Terra Power's wheel is mounted in line with the machine, like a regular grinder. It is scheduled to be shipped next Friday. I'll post pictures and results when I get it.

Thanks guys, you's just saved me 10000 Dollars LOL But do you Know of any Ride on stump grinders? Thanks My Tree Brothers.

p.s Wont the mini skid steer Rut up the lawn? Just asking LOL and If it dont Please Post some info on this Koa man Thanks.

Ok tree brother, LOL.

There are no riding grinders that are worth it.

We have been doing stumps part time for 6 years and average 40-50k a year (including the first year) working 2 days a week.

Like i said, get an RG50 (super i would think) to get started, then get a RG85, then do like we are doing and get the 150hp towbehind when it becomes available.

We would also get a RG120 if they made it. Same size as the RG85, but with 120hp from the old big tow behind. We would get that over the RG85 of course.

You could ride this but it is mighty espensive, for the machine and to fix the yard. .

i have a Vermeer 650b it Gets the job done but i am Going To Try and buy a Rg50 with in the nexted 1-2 years. i average 40-60k in a 6 month Work period Thats working 6 days a week.

Try and get the super 50, 16 extra hp cant hurt.

It will do any stump it can get at, and it can get at alot because its only 35" wide. It will also climb stairs and such as well as cross pedestrian bridges, so its pretty ???? versital.

You can ride standing up on the mini skid. The tracks should not rut up a lawn if you don't make dime turns. A friend lays a couple sheets of plyboard down and makes his turns on that. He says no problems. The freight company called me today to schedule delivery this Thursday for my mini skid. :) I will be on a 1 week vacation during spring break so I won't be able to use it right away. I should be able to let you know how it works in a couple of weeks.

Koa, any advantage to standing on the machine over standing on the ground?

That aint what i call riding:D

There has been some mid powered grinders that you ride, but they where from small companies and werent thought out very well. Such as a tri wheel setup but no swing hydraulics so you have to wiggle the whole machine.

Or they are way underpowered. Make a 120hp machine that has a seat, that is under 5'6" wide, under 5k lbs, all hydraulic, on tires, from a reputable company that allows you to buy parts straight from them and not a dealer, and I will buy it tomorrow.
