Koa, any advantage to standing on the machine over standing on the ground?

Yes, if the ground is muddy or otherwise nasty. Really though, I don't see any reason why I would need a stump grinder that could be ridden. The only time I needed something like that was when I ground 40 stumps, 4-12" dia. at the National Cemetery. I only had to grind them 4 inches deep and all were already cut to 1" above ground level. I hooked up my Rayco JR to my JD Gator and towed it around. I was able to do the 40 stumps in about 6 hours.

40 stumps that aint just hugely far apart of that size could be done in an hour and a half with the RG85, with a majority of the time getting the machine to the next stump. 40 stumps like that in a row would take about half an hour:).

No replacement for displacment.

I don't think you could do the stumps faster than I did with the RG85, unless you can tow it around like I did with the JR. The cemetery is over 100 acres and the stumps were all over the place. Many visitors, (more than 5 million a year) and some waiting time for them to pass or I needed to go to do another and return. Also could not run the grinder when there was an internment going on. The Rayco JR took an average of less than 2 min. per stump. 40 divided into 6 hours is only 9 minutes, more was waiting time than grinding or traveling time.

Koa, thats what i figured, we hate jobs like that. It wasnt meant to be a knock on you or your equipment. The jr can go placed that the RG50 cant even go due to its light weight.

Why in gods name the hurricane?

i hope you got A Load of money for the Job LOL.

Actually I did. $40 each working by myself. If I had a job like that everyday I would be a multimillionaire by now.

For that kinda money get an RG50. Much better grinder. That is a swiss army knife, it will do alot of things, but none of them as well as a specialized tool.

The backfill blades on the Rayco grinders work well for backfilling (go figure eh).

The RG50's run 35k, but if your in the buisness of grinding stumps they are well worth the money.

very true

Stumped, you gotta be kiddin right?

Think about that question. How in gods name can anyone possibly put a figure on that???

And in case you wonder, thats a trolling question.

How is that constructive??

Any body, Know How many inches a minute The RG50 can Grind?.

It depends on the operators experiance. A skilled person can do it faster then i can, since I do it so seldom.

With the available hp and wide swing this is one of the most versitile machines on the market today. I prefer the Vermeer tracked model for working on very big stumps, but it's a wee bit more spendy. The vermeer is direct drive and sits higher. The RG sits a bit too low to work well when in a big pile of grindings, but they designed it to reduce tipover risk.

They can answer any questions you would have on their products. I visited there once. Nice people, took me out for lunch at an Amish restaurant, gave me a free T shirt and let me try out the RG50 and a Mini Work Force. John Bowling Jr. also gave me an extensive tour of the factory.

I guess bringing some chocolate covered mac nuts and Kona coffee helped.

About as constructive as Darins, which was just as accurate..

Really now, why feed a troll? Let it starve or smarten up.

Lack of common sense is the number 1 killer.

Darin's was somewhat subtl irony, not in your face confrontation.

I think you should go back and read some of your initial postings. ;)
