Howdy all, I'm thinking of upgrading from my 55 to a 357xp. Just curious what a fair price to ask for my 55 would be. It's a year and a half old, about 15 - 20 tanks of fuel through it. I used it a bunch right when I got it, and it has sat until just this last month. I'm dropping some larger oaks and other hardwoods. I got to try out a buds 357 and was very impressed. Thanks for any info.

Used 55's in like new condition are fetching $175 - $200 on eBay.

However I would keep the 55, and go a little bigger than the 357. I ALWAYS take two saws with me in the woods. You might smoke a chain, pinch a bar, run a saw over, etc. Plus I put a 16" bar on the 55, which it loves, and now run a 20" on my 67cc 670 Jonsered. That saw is unstoppable with a 20" bar

The 357 is a nice saw, but for oak, locust, etc. I like to have a few more cc's than a 57ccc saw can provide. Its only four more cc's more than your 55, even though it has 1 more hp.

I agree about the two saws. HUSKYMAN's choices are good also.
If you just want the one saw, I'd check with the dealer for trade in value. That's only two gallons of fuel run through it, right?
On a side note, two gallons in a year and a half could tempt you to use stale fuel. After three months, I'd throw it out.

I'm only going to be able to have one saw, I can justify two saws for the little bit of cutting I do annually. I'm just worried about trashing the 55 cutting this hard wood all the time. Decisions, decisions...

from what i hear, the357 oughta cover u pretty good . from what i know. the 360pro stihl, with adjustable high, low.
will solve your needs also, and introduce u to what i consider an exstremely well made machine.not the only one but i can speak from personal experience on that one. jmo

I agree with Tony.  The 036 is a fantastic saw and if you're only going to have just one it would be extremely hard to beat.  If the Husky 357 even comes close it should be a good single-saw as well.
