Not sure if this the right area to ask or post this question but,

How would one find the right dollar to ask for 3 used Stihl saws?

I have a 0-11 with a 16 inch bar,

0-34 with a 20 inch bar,

MS 460 with a 20,24 and NIB 36 inch bar I bought on Ebay that was supposed to be a 30 and they sent the 36.

The 0-11 and 0-34 are both around 20 years old and I am the only owner. Both saws are in good shape, but have been used.

The MS 460 I bought off Ebay and it was like new when I got it and I have about 2 hours on it. I had the compression checked when I got it and its 65? or more? Cant remember the # now. Old age I guess.

All 3 saws have Stihl cases as the 460 has only the big case with the scabbard that was not intended for the 24 inch bar.

Any idea of their worth or any interest would be helpful.

Trick question.

I had my 395 posted for sale on the Trading Post, but after a while, I reconsidered and took it off. Why? After some thought I decided it was worth more to me to keep it, than the price I had listed.

So, it's "worth" is the difference between what it's worth to you to keep them, versus what someone is going to pay for it. The two numbers will likely be a fair spread apart. There in lies the trick. ;)

When I'm buying equipment used, I always have to buy at a lowball price, because with almost absolute certainty, I'll have to put money into it. Example: I bought a used 028AV for $120. Since then, I bought a vent tube, fuel filter, sprocket conversion kit, bar, chain, and a used brake assembly (parts of which Stihl no longer make) I've now got $300 into it. I could have just about bought a brand spankin' new MS 250 for that. (though I believe the 028 is a better saw)

So, the question is, what's it worth to you?

A perusal of saws for sale on ebay will give you a good idea of what to expect out of your saws.

Your 460 should bring $400 or better, more like $500+ if it's like new as you say. I'd suggest selling the bars separately. In fact, I might be interested in the 36 inch bar.....

Depending on the condition of the 034, if it not the Super, $150-225,

The 011, $50-125...

Overall, Stihl's have the highest resale value versus comparable saws by other mfr's.

I think rbtree is pretty close with what they should bring on ebay. I also agree with him and think the best thing to do with the 460 is to sell it with either the 20" or 24" bar and then sell the 36" and the other bar seperately.

I just went and looked up the bar #'s for the 36. Its a Stihl 36" 3003 000 8853 3/8 -50, 114 link. BRAND NEW.

If anyone is looking for one, let me know if you please.

Those saws are worthless. Just ship them to me. I'll PM my address.

Since my saws are worthless, I figured the shipping would be around $900 for all 3 and cases:greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw:

I'll join the fun...If the saws are 'worthless' then they must be a liability, so it might be fair for me to ask a 'disposal fee' of say....$900.:buttkick:

I have ran the 460

looks like new, runs like new, well, as good as stihls run anyhow.. LOL
all kidding aside it is in far above average shape.
