People have this idea that old=valuable. There's a guy near me who has been trying to sell a mid 50's Dodge Powerwagon for $5,000 for six years! I looked at it once and offered him $1,500. He said I was nuts, he had a price guide that said the truck in "original, unrestored" condition was worth 5 grand. He doesn't understand the difference between "unrestored" and "needs restoring". The folks selling that craftsman saw will either give up or go broke, if you think education is expensive, try ignorance!

How about "a small child can hold the handle on the tip of the bar..."!!! Thank God they didn't try to start that thing!:blob5:

my wife and mother in law have the same mindset: "if its old, its valuable". our basement is loaded with "old valuable" junk picked up at auctions and yard sales. and guess who gets tasked with fixing it up?
quietly disposing of these items without drawing attention has become a true art form.

I agree with the camp that finds these sellers to be kind of clueless. I, too, have seen the saw a few times, and each time it drops in price.

I have noticed that the best way to sabotage a sale is to advertize the price you want, unless you really are jus cleaning out the junk. How many would agree that if they set the first bid at $5, somebody might bid that old clunker up to $150 or maybe more.

Another point; if they knew who made it for sears, and if it shared parts with another marque, that would materially add to the value, don't you think? Old Clinton saws are worth a little, but Western Auto, Gambles and Monkey Wards saws (by Clinton) are worthless.

I can't believe the crude they are trying to sell on ebay. I to have seen that saw several times up for bid. It looks like an I.E.L .
And you gotta laugh when you see them sellin used crapsman saws on ebay for almost $80-$100.

nutso.
