BEING AN AVID HUNTER, I AM CONSIDERING CLEARING 2-3 ACRES OF MY WOODED 80 ACRES TO PUT IN SOME WILDLIFE FOOD PLOTS. OBVIOUSLY DOZER/HEAVY EQUIPMENT BE REQUIRED OF WHICH I DO NOT HAVE.

I WAS THINKING OF OFFERING IN EXCHANGE FOR THE CLEARING OF THE LAND THE TIMBER THAT WAS REMOVED. THE TIMBER WOULD INVOLVE A MIXTURE OF OAK, POPLAR, MAPLE,AND WALNUT. MY QUESTION IS- IS THIS A COMMON PRACTICE?

A buddy of mine did just that... he had about 2-3 acres cleared for a feed plot in exchange for the saw logs. They left the slash piles tho.. you might have to burn/clear them out depending on your agreement.

Last year I had an old gravel pit cleared in trade for the wood but the stumps were mine to deal with after.
First thing to do is ask around!

I used to trade tractor work for firewood. Firewood cutters don't have much cash in the summer and I got firewood that would be seasoned by winter.
