I don't know when they were made, but I would turn that Tecumseh shitbreather so it is not blowing exhaust on you for hours while your splitting wood.

I have the chance to buy both last pic shows a full beam Yardman 22 ton in the back ground. Both need a little work I took the yardman and cleaned the carb and it works good. The timberking runs, the motor and pump are 4 years old the owner says he put them on but is not mechanicaly inclined. He has the old engine and pump,I will see if it exhausted in a differant direction.Good catch!

No idea when it was made but as far as durability I would say that's pretty good. The machine looks to be in good overall condition for being a minimum of 35 years old.
Too low to the ground for me but to each his own.

i know it been a while since you posted this but had to reply. i own one of these. love it, love it, bought it new when i graduated college in 1980, paid $750, installed new briggs 15 years ago, same everything else, return detent on valve stopped working years ago so i have a northern valve i'll be installing, interesting that mine is opposite hand from the one in pictures, the guy must have switched it around which is easy to unbolt the two tubes and rebolt,, would suggest doing that so oil filter is away from work,, a great machine, good design, they should make more like this, all the ones i look at are a joke in one respect or another,, adding a log lift to mine now:) after all these years
