Congratulations. I've been looking at that machine as well as one from all-wood.
Please provide some feedback after you've had a chance to use it.
I'll probably end up with the TW-6 but haven't made up my mind yet. I can't find any dealers close to me. I hate to drop that kind of money without even seeing the machine in person.

I have one from AllWoods, and really like it. I went with it over TW because of design and the fact that you didn't have to pay extra for the options, it just came standard with the unit.

Which model do you have? I've been looking at the Oak. The fact that the Allwood comes standard with the log lift and table make it attractive.
Have you had any issues or found anything you don't like?

I have the Oak series. I posted about my splitter in a thread, and well it took some time to use it to be able to comment further, but check out the following thread:

I think that will help you out. I have my pro's and con's of the Oak series in that thread. Would I get another one, absolutely, without blinking an eye. Same model? If I had the extra money, I would probably go up a model, but over all I'm happy with what I have.

I have owned a timbwolf tw6 for approx. 6 years. 2 years ago I sold it for the purchase of an allwood redwood series with 2 mods, 30" stroke and the 4 valve system same as the tw6. about a year ago my allwood was stolen and luckily I had replacement value insurance. I was so impressed with the allwood splitter I ordered the exact same machine (redwood). the only diff was a 8 way wedge. it splits everything..... by the time you add all options to the tw that come standard on the allwood, the allwood is cheaper and far better built. tw6 has a 22 gal/min pump, allwood has 28 gal/min pump. tw6 has a 5" cylinder, allwood has a 6" cylinder. tw6 has 13" tires, allwood has 15" tires. The owner (Bobby) is a great guy to deal with and if it's not right he will make it right. one of the ears on my 6 way wedge wasn't to my liking on my first splitter. He made another and sent it to me asap. Doesn't get better than that. As I live in Taxachusetts, with shipping, and mods it was $50.00 more than a tw6. If you want to buy a name than buy a tw6, if you want value for your money than allwood.i

I ended up returning my Allwood. Nothing but problems, and Bobby gave me every excuse in the book, and wouldn't answer calls nor emails, and then came up with another excuse. After some time, he even told a friend of mine he threatened to sue me, after Bobby posted a pic of the splitter my friend built, claiming he copied him. Bobby will tell you what you want to hear. You had good luck, but I didn't.

The only change I might make to my TW-6 is a full auto cycle valve. There's a lot of times I could grab another round while it's splitting.

However, I'm very happy with its performance.

One thing people might keep in mind is that I split for an OWB. I run most rounds up to 30" through the 4 way once. If its over 30" it'll get a resplit. If I had to sit and resplit every piece I'd go nuts.

Did you consider the super-spliter? Seems like they split a lot of wood with a 5-8hp engine.
I have a auto cycle valve on my hillbilly log splitter and love it... Well worth the additional money

I have an old TW5 - made a few mods - added jacks to raise the height some - it has been a mule of a splitter !
Any way you can post some pics of your jacks? I have contemplated adding jacks to my splitter, but it keeps getting pushed down the list of things to do. Do your jacks remove or are the permanently attached?

I will - I took a tube about 5 feet - welded two trailer jacks (one on each end) then a flat plate in the middle. Drilled 4 holes that matched up with the mounting holes for the trailer hitch bolts on. You unbolt the the trailer hitch and bolt this on - cordless impact works great - I am going to re configure it now that I have used it some. The good is that if you are in an area with uneven ground you can level the splitter perfectly - the down side is that its not as stable as I would like it to be once its high enough to get the wheels off ground. The new design is going to have the jacks mounted next to the tires - this will keep the 4pts of contact with the ground. the jack on the hitch side/the two by the tires / the one under the beam - that should make it perfect

Anyone know the theory behind the Allwood wedge design? What's with the "low spot" in the middle of the wedge. Is that to spread the force out over a longer duration (less initial force) or is it to somehow try to ensure straighter splits or ???

I see the pusher has a "groove" in it to push the log past the wedge tip. Except for the last block, I'm not sure I see the value.

I'm curious as my son is currently borrowing a splitter and he has been making noises about possibly building one.

It's suppose to be so the pump only sees 8" or so of wedge, and to help keep the rounds down or from creeping up on the wedge.

I bought a used elevator today and the guy had a new tw6 - I got a close look at it and all I can say is WOW ! Its a good bit bigger than that the TW5 that I have . Really really well built. I think you made a good choice !! I have the auto cycle on mine - I wished they still offered that but you can always add that later if you feel the need - I think you'er really going to like this machine ! Yes im a little jealou

Why dont you talk to the manufacturer and see if you supply the autocycle valve they will install it on the splitter. Tell them you will sign a waiver against injury. I find my autocycle valve the best thing since the light bulb

Its nice to see people still viewing this thread. I have owned my TW-6 for close to three years now. I run a small part time firewood business, and we sell over 100 cords a year. Every piece of wood is ran through that machine. I only have a couple complaints about it. I wish it was taller, I am 6'3 so its a little short for me.
I am not a big fan of the log lift hose locations. I have broke the hose 2 times from large diamter wood falling off it. I modified the table grate hooks so they could handle the force of the large diamter wood falling on it. Other than that it has been one hell of a machine.
