Hi all, a friend gave me his older saw and it will fire for a sec if I shoot fuel in the carb, but then dies. Any ideas?
That saw is probably 40 +/- years old. At that age all rubber is suspect, especially with California's ozone pollution.Hi all, a friend gave me his older saw and it will fire for a sec if I shoot fuel in the carb, but then dies. Any ideas?
Those are the only problems I've had with my 38 year old 024. Stale E10 didn't do any permanent damage that fresh fuel, and switching to non-E, didn't fix. And I did have to replace a leaky impulse hose recently.^^^That Fuel/Carb or or air leak. Did it ever run E10 and have fuel left in it?
Sometimes you get lucky and it's just dried out. Priming it a few times gets it to run.
Apparently it was running fine when he shelved it with low hours, but the town he lives in outlawed 2 stroke saws etc. That saw is probably 40 +/- years old. At that age all rubber is suspect, especially with California's ozone pollution.
Why did your friend put this saw on the shelf to begin with? What was wrong with it when it last ran?
