Well I just came back from a 40 mile road trip with 2 new saw additions. I answered a Craigs List ad that was listed as "Misc Tool For Sale" . Besides other tools he had a 455 Husky Rancher for sale. Called and inquired about the price and was told $150 firm. Wow this must be a total piece of sheat. Thought what the heck I have the morning off so away I go. Meet up with this guy and he pulls up in a brand new Ford pickup and pulls out this Husky with hardly a scratch on it. My eyes got a little bigger but didn't fall out of my head. I thought no way stolen for sure!!! Asked about the history and was told that he thought his dad bought it in 2009 to clear about 20 trees out of a groove that he had. He passed away a couple of years ago and he kept this say thinking he would use it around his house in town. Well it turns out that he doesn't use it and his wife wants to have the garage back to park her car in it so crap has to go. I'm thinking Craigs List is not the best place to sell stolen items and with his story I figure I am good with it. I pick it up, start it on the second pull, shut it off and tell him done deal. OK so here is the frosting on the cake. He also had a 235 Husky listed but it didn't run so I wasn't interested, but he pulls this out and says I will shoot you a good deal to get this gone too. Still not very interested but said OK shoot me a price. He says for $40 more I can have the saw and he will throw in 5 brand new chains still in the bag that will fit the Rancher I already have. Again the eyes pop and some quick math says there is probably close to $100 in chains. Second done deal. Needless to say the 40 mile trip home was pure heaven and you could not have wiped the smile off of my face with a baseball bat. Wife no so much impressed so I had to come on here and tell people that I new would appreciate my dumb luck.

Good deal:clap:

Just tell the wife its equal to her getting a Coach purse for $50 and a Vera Bradley wallet for $25 and getting 5 coach change purses thrown in for free. I bet she says DAMN good deal!

I know my wife would do back flips for that purse deal unfortunately i have to go cut trees down so she can buy them full price:msp_angry: no really shes nurse so she can afford all the purses lol.

That's a way better investment then putting that cash in a savings account. Point out to the wife what a financial wiz you are.

Very true, and exactly why I don't say a word if she comes home with a new Coach bag. She doesn't say anything when I come home with a new saw.

As long as you are sure to always buy the same color saw, they won't ever know. This coming from a guy twice divorced:msp_w00t: so take it for what it's worth!

Ted

That's a heck of deal you got there! Forgot to say that at first so had to edit it in there!

When are wives EVER impressed with a chainsaw score?? Mine wouldn't even raise an eyebrow either. Congrats on getting a sweet deal!

Just a little update on the non running 235 saw. I have spent the last 2 to 3 hours being schooled by the chainsaw forum guys. Initially I had no spark and they got that corrected. Then I did the gas in the cylinder and actually had it running for 5 seconds. So tomorrow I will see what suggestions they have now and see if I can't get that bad boy to run. Also thanks for all the nice comments and yes I STILL have that smile on my face.
