I got hold of it right from my neighbour, actually! He has a gas fire...
One of his friends buys the old barrels to cut in half for plant pots, or keep whole for water butts, etc. - and had a huge load of old staves from barrels which weren't good enough to sell. So the neighbour took a trailerload for me and I repaid him by cutting his deck wood to the length he wanted it - then he gave me a bottle of the 12 year old single malt and just said "enjoy it".
So my house smells of delicious Bush, as does my fireplace - I stacked them in the front room for the minute as the smell is so great!
They sell the barrels super-cheap, as well, even the good ones. One load of whiskey and they are useless to the distillery, all the flavour is sapped out of them apparently...
