Please! Help me settle an arguement - isn't a 36" bar too long for a 440? I say YES! 28" max, or shorter. Any responses would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!

IMHO, an 044 is a 24 inch bar saw -- max. That is, for a professional level of satisfaction of performance.
Why woudlnt they be? Afterall a 046, 066 and a 044 all share the same mounts. That said a 044 is perfect with a 24" bar. If you need a bigger bar than that look at a 046 or a 066.ood point! Plus, I don't think the 044's bar mounts are up to the task

Yeah, I've had to ALAP Oak stumps up to 8' thick with this thing! Too much fun!!!Originally posted by sawfan
I definately think a 36 is too long for an 044, but they can cut soft wood quite well with a 28 or even 30 inch bar. In the hard wood its a different story.IMHO.
