Too much CSM not enough BSM

BTW, I've heard it said...you buy a 4 stroke BSM and cry once, buy CSMs and cry when each of them blows up...

Is that why I'm always crying. I have my sites set on a lucas mill. There isn't a band mill that can make a 60 inch slab for under 20 grand. Besides I really don't need one with there being one every 30 miles around here.

If your lucky enough to have such large trees to cut on a regular basis, it certainly would make sense to have such a slabber.

If not, what's the point?

I guess the point is a need one.

I'm not gonna move these logs so I need something that can go to the log. I'm actually turning away logs because I can't get them done fast enough. We all know CSM's serve a purpose but I think I need to upgrade soon. The amount of money I've dumped into saws I could have bought two small bandmills. It's time!

One cannot have a BSM with out having a CSM also..........one day you will need the csm so you can get a log scale'd down to get onto your bsm.

Recently seeing how moving logs around logs without snow on the ground, can dull bandmill blades faster then Oprah can kill an erection, I have been considering using my csm to basically debark and prep for the mill.

Oooo, I like that big piece on the trailer across the street... : )

yeah that chunk of walnut is waiting for my bandsaw mill. i forgot to mention that the fella who gave me that piece gave me the rest of the log too....

just a shade under 30" and each piece is around 6'. so this was a 30" by almost 20' walnut tree. one of the bigger ones i've seen around town. i was pretty psyched. had to be a bit creative to get em off the trailer, ended up jacking up the end of the logs and putting short pieces of pipe under it to act as rollers. i'll post a ton of pics when i mill it.
cheers
