These trees were "pruned by a tree company"

I know the homeowner well enough that he said to the company something like "prune the Hell out of those trees" He was happy with the results and because he knows I do tree work (but live 5 hours away) he wanted to show me the results during a recent visit....I was so impressed I had to share a couple of photos.

yes white pines I also have a photo of what I believe is a tulip tree.........I'll see if I can find it......

I don't know if I can bring myself to show photos of the tulip tree - it was magnificent and now? not so much.

I think they look pretty cool, cut to laterals and all. Hope they make it, they could be real interesting in a few years. Topiary, espalier, and repetitive pollarding all create unique results, who knows the guy might just be a free thinker.

Also look deeper at the photo. The boxwoods or what ever they are, are pruned, sheared what have you into some unique forms.

I hope they make it too. Yeah I noticed the unique forms on those things too.....

White pines?

Near a building?

If they were in my yard I'd have taken them about 25 feet lower... just saying

Whyyyyy??

Very sad!! I also know some people who prune their trees like this, may be the the owner did not hire professional. There should be law against this kind of injustice to trees!

the biggest tree company in my area trims trees like that. I could post pics like that daily.

I clicked on the pictures in the first post and about fell out of my chair - laughing uncontrollably, I might add. They're... trunks with a branch. Ugh. Looks pretty similar to what the tree companies do out here. They cut one of my neighbor's trees into a six-foot tall stump, then refused to cut it off at the ground because that's not their job. Apparently, they're to cut it exactly so many feet from the line... and this poor tree was directly below it.

Anyway, back on topic... I have got to see pictures of those trees next year. They'll probably be making some firewood (but, I have seen trees recover from amazing stupidity before).

I've seen elms and cottonwoods recovery from that and flourish. Pines? Not so much. My experience (limited) is that once a pine tree suffers carnage like that, it's lights out in a year or 2.

Yikes...
