I am a numbers kind of guy.:happybanana::drinkingcoffee:

If one were to cut 100 trees every single day, it would take 27.39 years to reach a million.

100 trees a day? Man, that's a lot of walking, bending, stooping, carrying, and general discomfort all the way around. Makes me tired just thinking about it. If we were in a patch of dog-hair timber we might cut that much occasionally but it didn't happen very often. Besides which, in timber that small, it was more like weed-whacking than timber falling.
If we were cutting old growth redwood we might work all day just to fall and buck one tree.

Well that was kind of the point.

Last year I had a job doing TSI work, (timber stand improvement) and cut about 100 trees a day. They ranged from 5" - 40" and most on the bottom of the spectrum. All that had to be done was dump the tree and not get it hung up.
Here are some pics of the job.

That's a lot of work. Was the wood skidded out and cut up or just piled and burned?
Now all you have to do is cut like that every day for 27 years and you too could cut a million trees. Might be kinda hard on the body, though.

The landowner has an OWB, they will recover some but a lot will probably be just burned.

Apparently what happened is the land was probably pastured in the 70's and allowed to lay fallow. Invasive species took over and the result was a mess. Prior to the tree cutting a huge grinder/flay on the front of a small cat ground all the underbrush and trees to about 4-5".

with a site full of amateurs looking for useful information on how to keep themselves alive, myself included , I wouldn't go around giving out your methods . People tend to believe what they read way to easily on the Internet and personally I wouldn't want someones death on my conscious due to shaky practices .

Using internet advice on tree felling/climbing in the place of real world experience is as dangerous as intentionally barber chairing trees[emoji28][emoji28][emoji28]

nothing wrong with someone new asking questions before they learn real world experience
