Find a new one and you might get some CDs and a new stereo too!

If you go that route try to find a pickup or a car with a bench seat. You loose way too much good glass in bucket seat cars.

Beer barrels hold more than 1 gallon, quarterkegs hold about 7 gal and halfs hold near 13. Who cares if the neighbors talk about you?

One of these days I gotta figure out what all the tractor tanks I have in a storage trailer fit and sell them off.

Ill take one for a Farmall H, just in case you happen across one :)

If I can get the tractor put back together, gonna try to start on a shed. When thats done, gonna move the milling machine home :D

Dont be a tape player hater!

Oddly enough, I have broken a window or two ....

If you take an old blanket and cover the door with the fold at the bottom and tied up at the top, whack that glass and catch all the pieces in the blanket. Of course, only works if you can open the door on the car.

Good luck!

I got that old lathe tore partially apart and got all new lead screw reversing gears as well as the brass slide nuts coming for it as wel as a good used lead screw end bearing. Not cheap but I didnt give much for the lathe so its ok.

I will try to get some time this weekend to start giving it a good cleanup.

I looked into a quick change gear setup for it and found they cost way too much for what I will probably end up doing with this thing and since I'm not a machinest and dont even know how to cut threads this original setup will be suffecient for me.

Ya know, I've brazed patches on so damn many gas tanks for tractors & machines I can't tell one from another any more.

Hey, 8 track was perfection in car audio. By the time you realized you'd heard that tune 4 times you were at the destination anyhow. If only the damn rubber drive rolls didn't go bad. OK, I'm half deaf, so what.

Got the tank mounted on a varbiable speed electrical motor. Has a little bit of #8 bird shot, some crushed glass, and a little diesel. Spinning round and round.
Vinegar solution didnt work for the tank, or the rusted tool kit I found. Most likely best to stick with making the files like new.

Tablesaw

Hi Fellas
Well I'm really glad this thread has evolved to what it is today, you guys posting up your newly aqquired tools and also contibuting infromation on problems guys are having is super.I needed, well maybe not needed, but wanted to add to the woodworking tools I had so to be able to tackle some more complex jobs around the house.I realize years ago everything was done with very basic tools and for the most part can still be done the same way today if time is on your side
or you don't make a living in constuction or building furniture. So after having said that I have purchased another woodworking tool,a tablesaw.I try to buy Canadian or North American made merchandise whenever possible but I fell off the boat on this one and feel guilty over it.But it's a done deal now and I have a tablesaw that was made in Taiwan. It's a General International
50-185M1 model.I'll see if I can post a photo up.

Well Possum, it's like this. When yer done spinning the tank on that motor you can convert it over to shake rattle cans of paint.

Vinegar is a crap process and it attacks good metal along with rust. If you insist on going to an acid process go Phosphoric. Better yet given your location go molasses. My Dobie is from Raleigh and he woofs it won't get cold enough there to freeze the molasses. He also woofs if you don't have use for it after all the rust comes clean yall can pump it into tires for ballast.

BTW if you want to mess with files & vinegar just put the first half inch of the file in vinegar and let it walk up the file.

Nice saw Lawrence. I wouldn't be too concerned abot it being made in taiwan. I did some research a while back, and found out the vast majority of power tools like this are made there. Some very good ones too.

It's almost impossible to buy a drill press for instance, that isn't made in taiwan.

I think this thread needs a little bit of activity.

Can you give any hints or tips to brazing tanks? I've had to do a few with some success, but they could have been better.

As far as your topic on brazing I can be of no help to you,but I do know of a few on this thead that could help you.Maybe the recent post of yours will bring them around.

Ok, I'm still a newbie here, and I need a little help. I bought this ring compressor, and see how the block holds the ring retainer, but what are these black and white pieces for?

Piston stops. Quite a bit safer than metal ones.

Now I could be wrong but that red block isn't for holding the ring compressor, you slide it under the piston to hold it square so it doesn't wobble around when your trying to put the cylinder on, all you have to do with the compressors is pinch it with your fingers.

BTW, nice tool box!!!

No, you're right Will. I missed that the first time. The slot in that block is there for the connecting rod.

Thanks! I should have known that. I was just looking at it all and it didn't look right set up that way.

If you like the drawer on that box, you should see the whole thing! Its messy right now because I'm hanging some computer monitors on the back wall of the hutch.
