Fly wheel pullers. yep I need to find a fly wheel puller for a Stihl 046/066. It looks to be the same animal that screws into the flywheel and presses it off the crank. Can I get one from a Stihl Dealer????? I have tried everything to exert outside force on the flywheel but it is pretty clear they need to be pulled off in the center. Has anyone made a working puller?? The Hoosier

Sharpen your chain it's a jungle out there!!!!

Here is the one that I use. I think it was orginally made to pull a power steering pump pulley on a GM vehicle. I have pulled about 50 flywheels with it and it is well made. I think my brother has some new ones so I will check. Probably about $25 plus delivery. Anybody that wants one? Mike

Gypo,
do you prefer fiberglass or wooden handles on your flywheel pullers?

MAN-O-MAN from the look of that pic it looks as if Gypo is a graduate of the Crash/Bang Institute of Technology which offers courses in Tree Felling, Chain Maintence and obviously Saw Upkeep!. As you can see there are heads and shoulders above the rest.............enroll today!!!!! Nice pic Gypo...........Later, Wade

Flywheel pullers

Hello john b,
Heres a photo of the 084-088-090 and the 056-044-046-066 flywheel pullers. their one of the few things that you can get inexpensively from stihl. If memory serves me there both about 12-13.00 apiece
Well john, its good to see someone with such a fine delicate touch pulling flywheels. maybe we should call you crash lambert.
Ruppdoggy, that puller looks like the japanese car air conditioner front pulley puller I loaned you a couple of years back
Hello wade, how are things going

Get the torch

Hey guys thanks for all the info on the pullers. I'll get my dealer to order me a couple if they are that cheap. And Gypo the only difference between your method and mine is, I drink Coor's Original. I can't drink anything that is brewed that close to the muddy mississippi, it tastes like cheap bar oil!!!! Thanks again

Hello Ken,
Things are fine here my way. Its been awful wet here loggers are drowning like rats, Repossed equipment for sale everywhere you look. Fortuanately were cutting on one of the better tracts we've had for a while so a couple loads a week is getting us by. Waiting on a 2186 from Dennis to get here pretty anxious to try it out. Thanks for asking and take care yourself........Wade

Pullers

Hey Ken, Do you happen to know the part numbers for the stihl pullers. I just stopped at my local dealer today and he looked at me with a stupid smile and said "they make pullers." He looked in his books then started to sort through a pile of micro-fish laying on the table and I said if I give you a part number can you order them. Yea, he said! So I had to ask what he uses, he wouldn't say. I bet it looks like Gypo's bench photo's!!! Anyway I'm hoping you or someone has the part numbers for the pullers and I'll get them ordered. Thanks The Hoosier!!

Sharpen your chain the endlaws just pulled in!!!!!!

pullers

Tell then to get out the special tool book and look up pullers in the back, or, look under tools for the 026 and 088. I am assuming they have the book, but then again, do they know what tools are?
It really pisses me off when I hear about "so called" Stihl dealers.

###Pullers??

Hey Stihltech, I agree it sucks dealing with this guy. I know what I'm in for everytime I need something. He is far to busy with the side mower business. Sorry, I mean side chainsaw business. Fortunatly I have had the part numbers from the saw books in the past to order what I need. When I approached him about the pullers the other day, I started to laugh when he looked over at the pile of micro-fish stacked next to his viewer. All of the color coded films were mixed together. Then looked in his three ring binder book for about thirty seconds. Sorry I don't mean to dog him out but those kind of guys shouldn't be in sales and service. If you have any part## for those pullers I sure would apprieciate them. thanks the Hoosier!!

Sharpen your chain the in-laws are here!!!

Just wanted to show my private collection of pullers and friendly persuaders, but don't tell anyone or they will be lined up at the gate.

JimL,

That first is the puller I just ordered for my 056 with SEM flywheel, also works on the TS350 and TS360. If it fits my 066, great. Even better, I would like it to fit my 075. I'll find out in a couple of days. Cost $26, though.
