I've lost a hand saw in my chip pile. Has anyone had any success using a metal detector finding tools in their pile, and if so what kind did you use. I have a $50 one that doesn't work. Pete

I could let you try my $200 one that I use for logs (standard beachcomber style)...

If I came up to work with you ;)

I've used it for tools in the snow and leaves and weeds, but not a chip pile.

is the time involved looking for a hand saw, worth the price of getting a new one ?????? it has to be one expensive saw, to have to go get a metal detector for !!! JMHO

Silky Zubats are around $50

i guess its about who is paying, for what....

if the guy is working for you, and is on the clock , and it take him 2 hours to go get a metal detector, come back in the company truck and find a $50 handsaw... its not worth it

if it his own saw, and he goes after work to find it, on his dime, maybe...

things are tight, just had the pep talk from the boss.....so a guy figuring he's going to save the company money... went out and bought a wheeel barrow un assembled !!!!

home depot charges $10 to put it together....the guy saved the company $10, and took 2 hours to put it together....was not the best money saving move !!! JMHO

I have a metal detector to check logs for metal. It has saved a number of chains, found carabiners and throwballs in the weeds...

Just another tool.

I should have bought one years ago, endless uses for one.

Like when you drop the one & only screw and it disappears & you spend the next hour crawling around with a magnet.

Or, saving you repairing copper water pipes put in the wrong place.

Or, grinding up stuff like this:

I never used one but it probably would of saved the blades on a cbi unit that we used to turn our chips and logs into bio fuel:greenchainsaw:
