It's the same Torrington that made replacement main ball and "bushing" type bearings for Mac, Power Bee, and Power Products kart engines in the early to mid 60's, caged ball bearings for McCulloch and Homelite saws, and they also made an entry into the chain grinding market with two models of round grinders ( along with Nielsen ), the latter of which was for the harvester type chipper "pond and deck" chain.

Torrington is still a bearing manufacturer. I try to find NOS roller noses about two years ago, but could't find any. Jonathan

When I lived in Torrington, the Torrington Company was owned by Ingersoll Rand. Of course that was 20 years ago now. I'm surprised they actually made anything, the union was always on strike. Besides bearings they also had a stamping operation and a couple of other plants.

I recognized the name right off the bat as that of a bearing manufacturer. According to http://www.torrington.com/ they are now owned by Timken.

seems like theres a bearing named after them, torrington thrust bearing, maybe a type they pioneered.
