Thread is 12 years old. Did you ever drive a tractor with a wood splitter attached? Should i have radial or biased tires on my tractor?
 
The tractor supply 30 ton will work circles around that for about the same price. I have a SCUT and never considered a 3 point splitter.

I learned to process firewood from my Grandpa 40 years ago, and he had a tractor mounted splitter. In fact, my dad still has it but we don't use it much any more. Ours is a horizontal model, and doesn't have it's own controls, so it takes two to operate it. Advantages: It's faster than my stand alone, we can lower it for large rounds that are too heavy to pick up. Disadvantages: Ours takes two people to operate, and the small engines on stand alones use less gas than a big tractor. If the one you are looking at is vertical only, my stand alone does both vertical and horizontal, and I only use it in vertical mode when the round is too heavy to lift because I don't like to be bent over for hours on end.
