The training is a one time expense, and does not require that you join the club (which has many women in it).

Maybe all that    is affecting your reading comprehension, eric. Or are you so dead set against associating that you rail against it without pretext?

$365 per annum to join the club I read, then you'll be listed on their website, whacko! But ya gotta have 5 years experience plus 240 CEU's or be degreed in related field or BCMA.

But yes, you can go do the one off training, reading that any shmuck can, but ya cant join the club unless you pass the "criteria".

Standards and criteria are not perfect, but they do work.

Anarchy does not work.

You've made it clear--you are so dead set against associating in the real world that you rail against it without pretext.:deadhorse:

I think that having RCA and the number have a benefit when dealing with very high end clientel.

I've talked to a number of people who have gone to the Academy who found it beneficial and eye-opening.

Why not have an economic threshold to join an association? 1 it pays for the maintenance with a limited number of members, and 2 it keeps the riff-raff wannabes out.

could be useful especially in CA and a few other markets. Where I am the BCMA is a more useful credential, and overall it is a stronger credential.

All true, but the downside is that it also keeps out the struggling wannabees out for economic reasons. ASCA is hampered in part because it does not cooperate much with ISA, refusing to be formally Associated with it. No org is perfect, but they all beat flying solo.

But still, the Academy was a great experience for me. :)

Wrong again Seer

I just see USA based orgs grabbing money without a decent educational system.

This instance here allows any shmuck off the street to do an open book exam and be an expert over night, no educational pre-requisite, no "must be ISA cert arb minimum".

But you trump up stuff I see as being some almighty conspiracy, I think you have a bit in common with GWB.

Don't know what instance you are talking about, but I do agree that stronger education would make for a stronger certification.

How do Austalina arborists work together effectively if not through the isaac?

that gwb thing was over the top.:bang:

Them's fightin words for Guy! He's one of those peacenicks who see no problem with asulting a right-winger

I resemble that! And I never kept track of the seminars I've been to because I'm not ISA-CA

Formal education is acceptable CEU if I remember correctly from when I was looking into it but not necessary. How many arborists learned OJT? Why require a formal education of a 40y/o (or 58.5 y/o) man who can demonstrate understanding the knowledge?

Where I am the BCMA is a more useful credential, and overall it is a stronger credential.

Same here probably, since people make a big deal about the Master Gardener appellation.

Hey Master Gardener is a good program, 40 hrs. ed for 40 hrs volunteering. I was an MG before I was a CA; it's a nice cheap cert and good pr and you get some VERY good references from extension offices.
