I got the impression from the inspector that the farmers possibly were sold the ester, maybe not aware it was an ester and different from what they had been using, because of a possible shortage of the regular stuff.
Idk.
On the bright side, business will be booming for all the local nurserymen should everything die off as a result of the farmers spraying.

I wonder if they have county weed inspectors in the OP's region. Do they have them in your area ?. I think we are supposed to have one here but the last one I knew of was the farmer with the worst thistles in the county.

No, we don’t have weed inspectors in these parts, we frown upon big government…besides, there’s no donut shops or strip clubs here for them…lol

I can think of LOTS of herbicides that wipe out cockle-burs. I haven't checked the labels yet, but I'll bet Flumetsulam and Metribuzin will also wipe out TNT's rose bushes. That was my original statement, you know.

My experience is geared toward large application like in farming, timber and forest restoration. There is a way to use chemicals close to non-target plants, you use a wiping techniques and apply the herbicide to green leaves and stems with a sponge, paintbrush or wick/rag. You can use this full strength or cut it some to apply.

We have plant pathologists here. Most from Penn state university. I actually used one this past winter. I had taken pics of a weed that suddenly popped up in my turnip patch. I sent her pics of it and a week or so later found out is was something that grows predominantly in Illinois. I believe it came with the turnip seeds. I hit it with roundup and it took care of it. I didn't need another weed here. I have enough of my own.

I would hope that any licensed and responsible person doing herbicide application on a large scale would know what they are spraying. You can't apply according to the manufacturers directions if you don't know what you are using.

Of coarse, this technique is only effective with foliar absorbed herbicides. Doesn't work worth a damn on wettable powders.

Just another example of more bad stuff we export out of Illinois. That is what we are good at, spreading chit.

I'm not a big fan of government agencies either, I'm just telling y'all what he told me.
