Tree ID Needed

Located near Albany NY. It’s totally dead but loaded with grape vines. The scraggly branches are throwing me off. Going off the bark I’d think some subspecies of white oak?

Is it coming down?
If so keep some for smoking with. Most fruit trees make some good smoke woods.

It will at some point. I’ll definitely grab some of the wood.

It’s between three cabins and a power pole is right next to it. In addition, there is a huge sugar maple in the way of the only clear felling angle so I told the camp director that he should get an arborist to take it down. It may take him a while to get around to that.
