Hi,
I will be bidding (quoting, we call it here) on the removal of this tree,
At first glance i thought it was a silky / silver oak 'Grevillea robusta' native to Australia.
However on closer examination i decided it was not a 'Grevillea robusta'
The tree is about 60 feet high, the base of the trunk is about 3 feet in diameter, the leaves are pinnate. There are no flowers or visible seeds. I would like to know the species and whether the resin, sap or sawdust contains any toxins.View attachment 231904View attachment 231905View attachment 231906 toxins.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

by leaves alone it looks like a walnut but you say it has no fruit?

Unknown Tree

Hi, I don't think it is a Walnut. Still think it is an exotic from 'Australia'. I am trying to get some info from 'Tree World' which i think is an Austalian tree care site. I will be getting the 'bid' / quote', so i will take all the necessary caution and have all the extra ppe's like face masks etc. I know a tree surgeon who cut a (Wax Tree - Toxicodendron succedaneum, previously Rhus succedanea), every thing in and on the tree is highly toxic, and he was down for a couple of days. I always like to do research on 'unknown trees for my own safety.
Rob.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe a cork tree but I am not real familiar with them.

Grevillea robusta are common street trees here in so. Calif. They make me break out like poison oak, scratching and itching for days. The bark doesn't look like a silk oak(Grevillea robusta), or its growth pattern.
South Africa. Makes me think of all kind of exotic trees:msp_smile:

The last time I did a silk oak it tasted kind of sweet (when I am climbing around and brushing my face against the branches). It wasn't a bad experience.

The pics look more like walnut to me. some variety if Juglans.

not tree of heaven .... 2 points are missing from the lower leaf near the stem.....
i think its a pecan.... or it might even be an old chinese pistachio.... search around the ground and tell us what you find...

May be a European Ash(Fraxinus excelsior).
