On the first tree Separate out the soft pieces and burn them first. If it sets for a year that fungus may rot out quite a bit of the wood pile. The second tree looks like a beech.

Are you referring to Gjt1980's question or mine at the very top of the page?

Looks like an Oak species.
Look at the leaf or nut to be sure what one.
Great firewood but needs two years seasoned, generally.
