You broke... a Wolverene? Er, that is, three Wolverenes? JHC... The solid steel welded blue ones (DH12DP)? How did you do that? I have pounded on them, levered the crap out of them, drove over them with the Kubota, and banged on them. I use them to pull up established bamboo with. I can lever on them with all my weight (185 lb) and never broke or even bent one. I got a new one this year, 'cause the ex got the pair we had at her place. They have a 5 year warantee on them. They sell them at OBC in Canby. I used to buy tree stuff at Terra Tec, but they are ALWAYS out of stock on tubes and shovels and anything I ever need.

Yes sir. Them nice shiny blue Wolverene's. How did I break them. Lots and lots and lots of leverage. Your 185lbs. I'm lucky if I weigh more than 135lbs. That and most of the ground I planted last year was solid rock. First day out I broke one at the bottom of the unit. Out Little River. Right across from the Cool Water camp. For the rest of the day, I used a fire shovel. That was great.
I looked at all the Cow Creek stuff. The ex was on the soil and water board there and I used to go out on a lot of the Cow Creek development field trips. Lots of teraforming. I loved the feud between Merilyn Kittlemand and the 'Casino Tribe' as I called them. Lots of BS politics there in Doug Co. They wasted millions on the never to be built dam there in Yoncalla.
I can't say too many good things about the "Casino Tribe." I will say this. The company I work for will always have work with them. Right now behind that damned truck stop. We have enough fuels reduction and thinning projects up till 2016. All of us on the crew are really getting sick and tired of working around that place. It doesn't do any good either. All Madrone, Wild Hazel, Poison Oak, Maple. The stuff we cut last year is already growing back.

lolol, I've been watching you guys work up behind there while on my way to the big fires and such. Better you than me!

I know several guys that work at the casino truck stop. I have a few friends out in Tiller and Days Creek. I never went to the casino, except for the meetings and presentations. I was at the secret unveiling of the plans for the big Winnebago park some years ago. Also observed the bouldering of the creek though there, and watched a lot of guys sweating their ballacks off doing the big terraforming there 2 years ago. As I recall, they had very ambitious plans for that entire watershed. Part of the deal for getting the Winnebago park permits and other expansion plans approved.

As for the cutting, I managed a 100+ acre plot out in Skelley and it was a never ending battle. Ken Kesey called it the Hellish greenery. Cut it and mow it and spray it and bulldoze it and burn it, and the next year it is right back again. Madrone was good firewood, so I never minded cutting that stuff. Cut a maple though and you get a thousand sprouts the next year. I do not get poison oak. The ex gets it really bad. So bad I had to ask her what the hell she bought a 100+ acre parcel of that stuff for. Seriously. She swelled up like the Michelin Man when she got a little itty bitty patch of skin exposed to it. Same with ticks. Ticks are really bad there. I never get bit by them. They have made a regular meal out of her. She gets bit, and the bite site swells up like a baseball. Dunno why she wanted 100+ acres of biting blood-sucking ticks either.

I am still amazed that you broke those Wolverenes though. Truely amazed. Here I thought that they are bullet-proof!
