Got some wood from the pile that was old and dried up with no bark. Seemed like it would split decent so loaded the truck about half full with some other mixed in. Hit on one piece after another and went to another piece after 40 hits. sliced the other kind of wood which I think was ash in 1 hit everytime. Looked at the old stuff closer and found it to be elm..... it's going back for other stuff tomorrow lol hopefully for oak or ash. But I guess I got a wheelbarrow full out of the other stuff so the 3 hours wasn't a total loss. Was on a roll once I figured I had elm and gave up but ran out of ash after a very short time.

I have some elms dying off that I have been taking from my lot. Burns real good. I'm just glad I got a splitter.

Ya glad I got a splitter for this stuff to. Just starting with the maul to stay in shape for sports so im still learning as I go what to do and avoid lol. It's fun when pieces split but discouraging when the first 10 logs don't lol
