I have 2 big gang boxes in my pickup that are chock a block full of ropes and **** and the whole backseat is full of climbing gear, i like to keep everything locked up so it doesnt grow legs and walk away, i have been considering either getting a locking cap or utility body to store stuff in, there has to be a better way! surely one of you must have come up with some awesome system to store all your gear in your truck do you have any suggestions

I use the ARE commercial cap on pick-up truck. Now still not unlimited space .. but it does have ability to organize to a point.

Very sweet. Ambulance doors rock. Those things get heavy but are great. I don't have the security issues nor is my pickup big enough for a box like that, still... I should ditch this F150 I got. All I seem to do is wish it was bigger, it does its job so I let it stay.
Quick thought, are the locks gauranteed?

They build them for just about any truck you have..

Just have to answer the questions online.. essentially make selections of choices by clicking. It then builds and draws the cap for you.

Are they guaranteed.. not sure. But you would do some serious damage to the truck getting them open.. they are at least as stong as the truck body itself. These are not shabby caps..

See if there is a dealer in your area, and drop by to take a look.. I think you will like what you see. I have not found anything any better.

Still picking from the pile as needed and putting in back of one ton.. dreaming of L pack boxes on the new truck next year though!

The KNAACK Box I have on Craigslist is what I used...Fits everything,100% waterproof,a house could fall on it and it wouldn't break. If someone wanted to steal it they would literally have to steal the truck and then torch the locks to open it.

Another member did this. One of the best ideas I've seen but you either gotta have some loot or really know how to build things. I'm pretty sure a few bits of tin, a hammer and a pair of vice grips won't accomplish this.

I'm still doing this from time to time unfortunately.

Usually we put them in the dump but I'm hoping to get some permanent toolboxes soon for A truck just not sure which one.

Thats pretty cool . You would DEF need at LEAST two hammers to do that .

treeclimber101 all you need is a toilet in that trailer and it would be perfect!

It may be the my favorite piece of equipment , we don't need to load or unload a damn thing ' and best of all we hardly forget anything anymore , at night lock it up and go home , we do have ship to shore plug for lights and our radio , it makes a nice lunch spot when its cold or raining ...

I like these caps myself. Three things i've found over the years though-go with the taller cap, seems to give you more space to hang ropes which i prefer to do. Get one that allows you to keep and use the tailgate, my tailgate is basically the workbench on the site. And get one that lets you reach the front of the box-i hate climbing into the back of the truck to reach stuff in the front. I actually needed more room inside the cap rather than toolboxes along the side, so the front door on the passenger side of the cap opens into the front of the box instead of into a toolbox.

Posted this earlier. I have since added plywood along the inside, blocking out the windows. (I hope to change the plywood with Aluminum over the winter). I also have a piece of plywood that blocks off the back that I will be changing to aluminum and set it up to lock into the side aluminum.

The bed I made out of a couple of sheets of plywood. It has held up quite well and I'm amazed in how much stuff it carries.

:agree2:

I would like to have a cap that the sides open, however the price was right on the used one I bought.

Another plus is getting a cap that has roof racks (that will hold some weight) built into them.

When I arrive on a job, the garbage can, plylons and gas can come out leaving room to climb in and get whatever I need. The rest stay in, a plus when its raining.
