Their saws seem to be good. The horizontal Kioritz saws didn't excite me all that much, but they too, were good saws. I really like the CS-670 and the CS-8000. Again, I believe them to be bullet proof. My local dealer was a Stihl trained mechanic for years and then started his own business. His father was an Echo dealer and he just took over. His opinion is that Stihl are darn good saws, but Echos are no slouches either. Echo climbing saws are noteworthy as being quite sound. Echo just doesn't make many models and until recently, were very over-priced. Echo realized their mistake and brought their prices down to where they are competitive. Echo makes about eight basic models of saws. The largest is 80 ccs. Again, they are tough. Not pretty and sort-of heavy, but I am satisfied. I think I just also want a Stihl. It is not because I am disgruntled with Echo.

tek9tim,

I didn't know Madsen's wouldn't sell to me here on the East Coast. I am frequently on their site and their prices on Huskies are good. Of course they don't list their Stihl prices.

Stihl doesn't allow their products to be sold online, by mail order etc. They have to be sold through the showroom a of a brick and mortar dealer. Husky doesn't have the same policy, hence why the Husky can be sold online and the prices are listed.
