Been using Blake's Hitch on Arbormaster but went to Karl Kummerlings and bought a 120' hank of Dragonfly and a Technora eye 2 eye. Gonna try Distel, Schwabish, and VT to see which one I like ( which one the rope likes too! )

The rope combo works well for the Schwabisch but doesn't like the Distel. It keeps slipping. I have a great wife she lets me play with my rope in the middle of the living room as long as it isn't dirty! ( As long as she doesn't know about me working on chainsaws on the coffee table so I can watch TV:clap: )

if you like the blakes run the martin knot with the prussic.

same as the blakes except you go under the bottom one turn and not the bottom two like with the blakes.

Yes....it's as he said, just go through one turn of the four, then back to the carabiner.....it works nicely...not as good as a Vt, imo.....add a micropulley for slack tending, of course.

Anybody have links to a pic for it? I haven't had any luck finding it but would like to try it. The pulley is always a must for slack tending!

Thanks Moray, I will give it a try. Anybody splice Kernmantle? How tough is it to do and what fid would you recommend I buy to do it? The fewer knots I have to keep an eye on the better! Played on the tree near my driveway yesterday and set up the Distel first which promptly dropped me on my arse! Schwabisch worked really good and so did the VT after some finagling. I will have to get an HRC eye 2 eye and maybe an 8mm Beeline too. Might try Ice I hear it is nice. Feel a little uncomfortable with that smaller diameter prusik compared to the beefy split tail I have been used to. I like the feel of the Fly so far, will have to do some pruning to really put it through its paces but after some more practice, first things first!

We have a cathedral ceiling in our living with beams that support it. I also use it as a test area for new hitches and belt arrangements. The gf looks on as if I have lost a few marbles. Gotta love it.

Wouldn't a big old post and beam barn turned into a house be awesome! Build a huge fireplace/climbing wall on one side, set your belay and climb!

Take an extra wrap with the distel. The swabisch tends to tighten throughout your climb whereas the distel is less apt to. I've always found the VT to be more prone to sliding then the other two.
