What is the proper procedure for tuning my was by ear? I don't have a tach, so It will have to be by ear for now. I searched, but the search feature was just saying no matches found for everything I tried.

Look at the thread (Setting 056 carb). I posted a link there that might help you.

Exactly what I was after. Thanks. On a side note, Anyone know if there is a better filter available than the "felt" one that it has currently?

Is there a good way to clean the felt filters, or just buy a new one?

shindaiwa info

I don't know if you tried this already, but you can get a parts list off the Shindaiwa site. I'm not able to get it to load up on my computer so I don't know if the 416 list is available. I know on my 488 list it shows alternate air filter systems that are made for them.

The flocked filters for the 350-500 Shindaiwa saws are discontinued. All you can buy now are the Silk mesh filters for winter/wet season use. Soap and water will clean those filters well. So will starting fluid.
