Would make a nice hookup for the "anchored" side of a lanyard.
Looks very similar to the stainless steel snap shackles they use on sailboats, which have 2 eyes, one of which opens (the shackle). Some of those are cool because the two eyes are separated by a swivel. I was watching those on Ebay for months--but couldn't think of anything they could do, except swivel, that we can't already do with a biner or a rope snap. I have never held one, but I don't think they are meant to be opened with one hand unless you have a pull-cord attached to the pin. Still... it seems like there must be some clever use for which they are ideal...
