The boss got disgusted with the MS200T so he went in search of a new saw. ( the 200 isn't six months old yet) He went to John Deere, but that store no longer stocks chain saws. He then went back to the Stihl dealer.
I told him on the phone to tell them that he wanted a saw as good or better than my husky 55. I told him that the new saw need only be choked first thing in the morning or after filling the fuel tank. I said the new saw should start with one pull of the rope. and I told him that this new saw should idle as long as I want it to. He came home with what they told him was the saw all other tree companies were using. An 009.
My impression after using it? Loud, gutless and hard to start.Oh well, he is happy.

I tried to talk him into going to the echo dealer, he decided that since he has four stihls he might as well have one more.

200

Asimple jet change(on fixed jet) or an adjustment , (non fixed jet), and inlet lever height check will cure most 200s and make them less peaky. Don't any other Stihl dealers do this stuff?

Our dealer just says that if i wouldn't touch the adjusting screws, the saw would run fine. I said if the saw would run fine, I wouldn't have to touch the screws.

Thanks a lot, Striker.  So you're the one who necessitated limiting adjusters and worse, fixed jets...

The criteria you specified fit every Stihl I can remember using (unless some ham-fisted operator had been dinking with the adjustments, and possibly with the exception of one 021), so long as by "starts with one pull" you mean when warm.  If you hadn't meant that, I'd like to see you start your cold Husky 55 with one pull.

What do you mean by "run fine"?  Do you want a 35cc saw to cut as quickly as a 53cc saw?  Why don't you just use your Husky on the job?

Glen

HOW IN THE HELL can your boss be happy with a 009 after using a MS200? The 200 will cut crop circles around a 009.

He must be on crack. That is the only solution I can come up with.

OH, and I will be burning that dealer for saying the 009 is as good as a 55. Whats their address?

Striker, has the spark arrester screen been pulled and cleaned or heaven forbid, lost permanently?
Just my opinion, for me the 020t was my favorite and the MS200 my second choice.
I like my climbing saw to make power at the high end, great for snipping the last little tag of holding wood when the branch gets to the angle you want in it's departure from the tree.:D

Hi Glen, I have been using the husky on the job. No it doesn't start cold on one pull. I have to choke it and pull the rope two to three times. the rest of the day it starts on one pull unless I run it out of gas.. We now have five stihl saws . If any of them set for more than five minutes they have to be choked to start.
When these saws are running properly I have no complaints. The 026 (fixed jet ) Wont idle and won't run as fast as it should. When it was new it was as bout a good a saw as I have ever run. Not anymore.
No Glen I don't expect A 35cc saw to cut with a 53cc saw. I do expect the 35cc saw to do the job it is advertised to do. I like the 200 when it runs properly. It doesn't matter to me the brand of saw. If the saw does the job intended then i am happy. A crappy running saw wears you out and makes the job take longer.

Hi Huskyman, the dealer also said we would never have to buy new air filters either.

to be continued.................

One less Stihl saw. The MS390 got squashed by a skid loader. That won't help the boss's stress level. Thank goodness it wasn't me that did it!

Brian, I was hoping for an Echo. I sent him to JD because the boss bleeds green. I knew that if he got around all that new green equipment it would help reduce some of his stress.

Keener, I hadn't thought about the spark screen. Next time we have problems that will be checked

Stihltech, move to Ohio, you are needed here
