Here is a young variegated Nuttall Oak grown by some folks I know who produce a lot of seedling oaks. This one looks like a keeper.
I have a number of variegated maples but within the genus Quercus, I believe this to be much less common. At task...how to clone it.

Looks like a job for tissue culture.

Can oak cuttings be rooted or are you looking at grafting?

Are you sure it's not virused? We are seeing lots of virus showing up in hostas.

I'd like one of those oaks if you get lucky!

Dan

Pretty sure it's not the result of virus. Oaks can be grafted and/or rooted but not very successfully.

Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo'

Here is a Japanese Maple of mine that has similar variegation. Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo'...means "Floating Clouds".

Some variegation looks good. Some looks ugly. i'm wiht Dan, that looks diseased, tho i believe you if you say it's not.

much of it reverts. Better to breed for vigor and resistance impo.
