Anyone out there know how the linkage from the governor to the carburetor is supposed to be connected on the Vermeer 1600?

This thing has a Chrysler industrial slant six motor with a B&B carburetor and a hoof governor. I can not figure out the linkage between the governor and the carburetor.

The machine runs like a top, I replaced the knifes when I purchased it last year and the thing just freaking ate for me, like a monster. I let it sit for a couple months and when I went to start it up I got nothing.

I chased a couple rabbit holes, like the ignition system, spark plugs, distributer etc and nothing worked. Then I played with the carb to governor linkage and the machine started up and took off straight to WOT. Scared the piss out of me.

I tore apart the governor after playing around with the carb for a while and can tell you the governor isn’t the problem. That thing is pristine. Also I got the machine to idle and at idle it sounds strong as can be, nothing weird. I believe the problem is right where the linkage from the governor connects to the carb as the mechanism that controls the pin that goes into the carb that controls the fuel input is sloppy/loose.

I’m not a mechanic, and definitely not a carburetor guy so if any of you out there own one of these machines and can bless me with some knowledge or photos of how yours is set up I would be very much in your debt. Thank you!

I have the 1600 with the slant 6 in it. Its not home right now but I should be back over to the jobsite in a couple days, weather permitting.
That would be a huge help. There’s got to be a throttle return spring that mine is missing. If you could get a shot of that to see how the placement of it is oriented I’d appreciate it. Thank you

I never paid much attention to the setup but will take some pix of it and post them for you. Gonna be a few more days before I get back to the jobsite due to the weather.
