OK, here it is. I forgot my good camera at work so I used a point-n-shoot. What do you guys think?
Pretty OK looking?

looks nice, i might be the only guy to ever do this but if i ever buy another new insert or reapint one. im gonna light it outside first before i bring it in the house. i remember the crazy fumes from the curing process. actually i had them just lastweek when i installed the woodstove in the cellar. the stove is well used but the pipe was brand new, man did that pipe smoke!
:agree2:

My wife also found the fumes offensive when we first started up our insert. DEFINITELY burn it outside if you can... but I see that it's already installed... :)

Looks like you could get a bigger unit - unless that metal surround is just that big.

Enjoy!

I have the same insert. I just installed a new combuster but am having trouble getting the flame impingement plate back in. Did you have any trouble fitting it in?

Yeah, the studs for the combustor housing and impingement plate were not quite strait and/or aligned with the holes in the plate and housing. I used a prybar and a block of wood to get them lined up better. Not perfect now but I got it apart and back together without too much trouble.

Great looking job Brian. I have an Englander product too and have found it very well built and it heats like crazy. For the price you can hardly beat them. You will have many happy years of burning. There sure is nothing like wood heat.
Remember to keep some humidity in the air.
Happy burning

I’m sitting by my 24-JC now while it’s snowing. Mine was purchased new in ‘95 and gets used a couple of months full time every year. The rear bypass damper is extremely difficult now but does open close with lots of persuasion. I’ve replaced a few impingement plates and the blower twice.
